Got my CL 65
Just wanted to say Hi and join the discussion. I just picked up a 2005 CL 65 with 38k Miles on her - what an amazing car. My last MB was a 2002 SLK 32 and since then I have driven a few other makes but came back to MB when I saw this monster for sale for a great price locally here in Dallas.
I've been reading with great interest the experiences with the notorious ABC. I did get the car checked out by a independent MB shop and they gave it a clean bill of health except needing new front rotors & pads - which have now been replaced. They were not experts in ABC though.
I did have a newbie question - After looking at the posts from Oxygen I did take a look at the high pressure feed line from the pump as best I can looking down behind the radiator. Its the old style of course with the 'foam' wrap vs. the newer heat shrink type. It does appear to have very slight outer wear / breakdown in one spot just before the U bend.
Do you think it's premature to proactively have the dealer flush and / or replace the hose? Or is 4 years / 38K WAY WAY to early to be thinking it's going to fail and it's smarter to wait for more miles & time? I'm on the fence due to if the hose is replaced now would it 'save' the pump later?
Any thoughts gentlemen?
Cheers

Exotic-metal55 - I got the silver one. Pewter Metallic, I think it looks sorta cool - not a bright silver and not gray either.
I made some calls to the local dealers today, they are working up what I'm sure will be an astronomical quote for flush, new high pressure hoses and ABC pump just so I can get an idea of the damage if I go that route - or at least know what it will be if it finally does give out.
I love the car already though - it really is a the proverbial wolf in sheep's clothing.

as long as you dont' run the pump dry like "oxygen" when his line blew up... just have the dealer look at the lines make sure its to date..there a recall on the lines..im not sure it apply to your car..
flushing the system is good..replacing the filter in the resevior..good preventive maint.
other then that, the car is bullet proof, as you can see many guys on here mod and track the F***k out their 55k/65/600 engine..
Now let the mod begin....
