How to check engine and tranny oil level?
On the CL55 (2005)? I see the cap but no dipstick? thanks

You check the engine oil through the steering wheels controls, it's in your manual. To check the trans, you would have to buy a universal dipstick and make your own marks on it.

Why buy a universal dipstick and make markings on it when you can just buy the Mercedes dipstick?

I was told by the dealer there wasn't a dipstick to order from MB. He gave me a web address to order a universal one. He said you can check it, then put the cap back on the filler tube

That's the dipstick that I bought. What I was looking to buy was a dipstick that actually stays with the car, like most other vehicles.

They do not have a dipstick that stays in the car... only the universal one for all 722.6 equipped cars.

So does that mean I can use the tranny dipstick on my SL500 (1999) to measure the level on the CL55 ( 2005)? Thanks in advance

I had the dealer service my transmission, when I got home I measured the level and marked the stick.
I can't get you a picture right now, I'm in Afghanistan. I'll be here for a few more more weeks.
