Damn, 2003 CL55 blown up on 'Fast Lane"!

Does not look like a 'prop' to me - they 'blow' up the real deal and the car lands on it's roof. Damn!

Final Analysis:
On Fast Lane they did a little Hollywood magic in the explosion. They used a real 2003 CL55 for every scene up to the explosion - even saw the V8kompressor badge on side and updated rear lights.
After going back and looking at the tape in slow motion I could see that the car they exploded was switched to a CL500 with CL55 badging on rear. The car that landed on it's top had the 2000-2002 AMG CL Sport Package wheels and the 2000-2002 taillights.
The undercover cops Van & Deke are driving a 2003 CL55 that gets blown up. The 4 tailpipes are shown on a rear shot, but the car has the 5 Spoke AMG rims, not the Double Spokes.

So was that shown on the movie trailer?
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
It's a TV show on FOX. They are always driving around in nice cars, both new and classic. I can't imagine they blew up a real CL55 or CL500. I doubt there budget can afford to blow 100K that easily.
They (FOX) don't pay for it at all. It's probably furnished by MBUSA... alot of shots featured the car, and it does make it look good.
They also have driven a G-Class, and SL. They also have a classic gullwing SL. I'm pretty sure the last is a kit car or something. They never drive it. Besides, Rupert Murdoch can afford pretty much anything.
On another note, I was cringing when I was watching this episode. I saw the first wheel over the wire, than the second, and the third... and boom.
It was CL55, badging and all, or perhaps they fake badged it.

i dont think it's a real cl 55.. maybe a cl 500 with the amg stuff. i remembered i only saw 2 exhausts
After looking at my tape frame by frame I determined that they used a real 2003 CL55 (with 4 tailpipes, upgraded taillights, 2003 AMG 5 Spoke wheels) for all the driving shots and then destroyed a CL500 rebadged to CL55. However, they did not make any effort to change the taillights or the wheels on the blown up car to really mimick a 2003 CL55.
The blown up CL500 was probably an 'empty shell' vehicle with engine, tranny, driveline, gas tank, etc. removed prior to the destruction.
RedSLKChic, hey beautiful, welcome to the rest of the board. I did not think you were able to post outside of the Off-Topic section where your fan club resided. He-He!
