2003 CL55 AMG
Hello

Hi all,

Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I'm picking up my flint gray 2005 CL55 tomorrow (as my birthday present to myself) and a member (owns an E55) recommended the site. And yes, I made sure that I got an extended comprehensive warranty with the sale!

I am a car afficionado, or at least striving to be anyway. My past stable includes a C5 Z06, E39 540i, E46 M3, 911 C4, and others. This will be my first MB AMG car though and I've heard nothing but great things..

Looking forward to contributing!

2003 CL55 AMG
Well folks, the deal fell through for the Flint Gray 2005 CL55. In fact, let me tell you the quick story. Car was being sold by RT. 73 Automall in NJ and the dealer said the car would be ready Friday (of last week). I rented a car here in Baltimore and drove two hours up to Jersey. Prior to me getting there, I called the dealer to let him know I was coming up to pick up the car and he tells me (in his thick Russian accent) that "his mechanic" is putting new brakes on it. He tells me that it will take up to 3 hours. Okay, I think, I'll fart around Philly for a few hours. Four hours later, I am coming into Jersey and call him again. He now says," I have a situation." I ask him what the "situation" is, and he tells me that his mechanic has dropped a socket wrench on the windshield, and cracked it. I tell him I will be right there. I get there and one of his associates is bouncing his foot on the right side tailpipes. I ask what he's doing, and he tells me that the "muffler is loose". I look underneath and the bracket holding the right muffler is broken. The dealer suggests we go for a test drive so I can see that the car is in good shape. I'm thinking, "Good shape?" One of the mufflers is about to fall off and there is a huge crack in the front windshield! We drive about a hundred feet and I press on the brake. Grrrrrrrrrr is the noise I hear as the rotors grind!! I look at the dealer and ask sarcastically, "Your mechanic fixed the brakes?!?!" He says," I think it needs new rotors." Really, no **** Sherlock! I turned the car around, got out, asked him if he knew what misrepresentation meant. He just looked at me with a dumb stare and I drove back to Baltimore. What a nightmare...
Subsequently, I picked up my black 03 CL55 with 50K on the clock today down in Virginia and I'm loving it! Extended warranty/service contract included..

AreL11,

You are whom I think you are, correct? Off today?

I am so OCD, **** retentive,...I got up at 4:45 AM this morning before work to wash the Benz after the crappy rain we had yesterday.

We'll have to get together this weekend or sometime soon and get some pics. Plus, I'd like you to drive the CL to see how it compares to your E55..

Be safe..

Keyless Go Card

Question for all regarding Keyless Go Card:
Dealer ordered one from MB and gave it to me yesterday when I picked the car up. I did leave it with the key in Position 1 for a while but I'm still getting the "card not recognised (sp)" message.
Am I doing something wrong, or do I need to take it to the dealer to be "programmed"?

Thanks very much..

While your driving, right? Sometimes if I'd leave the car running and get out and then back in and go, it would always tell me it wasn't there. The system sucks, it gets confused. Just let it keep blinking a few times and it will stop. Welcome and nice choice!

My neighbor is convinced I'm going to wash the paint off my car. I'm down to hook up whenever. And I'm working 5p to 1a through Saturday. Sucks.

Thank you...
AreL11, I don't miss that sucky schedule...supposed to thunderstorm Sat. and Sunday so maybe some time next week.
AMGNJ, actually not when I'm driving. The card isn't being recognized at all by the car. I've been researching and some people are saying leave it with the key in the car in Position 1 for an hour and others are saying to take it to MB to be "programmed". Who knows...I'll figure it out though.
One initial observation...seems as though everyone driving a Honda Civic with a fart can muffler wants to race! I've had the car for 3 days now and on three different occassions, some pimply faced kid pulls up next to me on the highway and starts revving their "VTEC"...I just laugh.
Have a great weekend.
