New (to me) CL 55 Questions

Hi - just purchased a great 2003 CL55 from RBM in Atlanta and love it. I am having 2 problems so far. There is a chirp almost every time I take off. The dealer said it was supercharger "chirp." Anyone else heard of this? Also, it came with the factory option of a power trunk lid. It wasn't closing every time. The dealer said they couldn't duplicate the problem. We drove down to Destin for a few days and it continued not closing sporadically. Today, it "locked" up closed. Any ideas on this??

Hi, try doing a search there is a thread not even a few weeks old (probably still on the first page) with the word CHIRP in caps in the subject. We've gone over that one pretty thoroughly. As far as the trunk, hopefully someone else can shed some light on that for you.

I responded to another thread tonight about the trunk. If the lid isn't closing all the way, it may be a bad pump. Try using only the closing switch on the door or the button on the lid itself to shut the trunk. That should resolve it until you decide to get the pump looked at. I had a similar problem when closing the trunk manually. The passenger side was not closing all the way down...
And I believe the chirp, others can correct me if I'm wrong, is the supercharger engaging. It is common. I heard it the first day I bought the car and it sounded like a metal squeak...I thought it was a pulley issue until I researched it...
Good luck and enjoy!

It is the passenger side on the trunk. No switches interior or exterior will make it do anything. Taking it to the shop this week.... Thanks everyone!!

The dealer said it was supercharger "chirp, And he is absolute right, the belt make sound when slip, often happend when copressor comes on, and change gears under hard load, or go of the gas under heave load and rpm.

If tuned pulleys ,upgraded system , is wise change every 10 000 km , Brabus have warning above radiators on this from early 2004

A belt wrap kit will add more HP and reduce that chipping sound because it allows your belt to cover 85% of your supercharger pulley, compared to 45-50% coverage with the factory pulley.....

CL 55 AMG the only one user active at the moment

Ladies and gents-
i fell in love with the CL 55 when it was the Formula 1 safety car in the 2000 and 2001 years, and told myself that if I were ever able to own one, I would buy it.
I bought my wife a 2009 CLK 550. She liked her car quite a lot and then i asked her if i could search for my dream car, thinking it would take a long time to locate one. I was wrong. I found one and I found it close to home as well. A mere hour away from us there was a CL 55 AMG. And craziest of all, if it was the correct color, SILVER!
Naturally, my wife went with me in her CLK 550. We met the owner, a very nice man, a retired USN master chief. He was very organized, with every piece of paper on the car from the car from the bill of lading from when it was shipped across the Atlantic to the US. We drove the car and asked the owner if we could have the car checked out by the local Mercedes dealer? He agreed. So, the car was checked out and passed with flying colours. We then went back with cash in hand. I tried to get him down from his price a bit, but he wouldn't budge. I paid the man and my wife chose to drive the new car home. She left me in the dust while driving her car!
How about that?
That's how we got to be where we are.
My wife sold her car the CLK 550 and bought a Mini Cooper Countryman.
I have kept my silver, Silver Arrow. Which is appropriate, don't you think?
Ok, no more silly jokes. Onto the photos.
Best regards-
Bonspy
