That's a rare car. White carbon fiber interior and the RENNtech bumper with integrated exhaust.

actually the car does not look that bad imo and pricing is a smudge on the high side, but for the right buyer it might be just... right

the outside is hideous. but the white carbon fiber is cool. and the engine bay looks pretty good.

I think that this was an original Renntech ad car they used in their brochure (or use to). I remember seeing it a long time ago in their catalog for the W215, same rare color too. I don't love the body kit, and I always loved the AMG quads so I don't love the side out exhausts either. The car is a nice rare collector piece though and that carbon is beautiful. I'd pick it up around 23-24k 27 is too much.

The splitter's a little over the top, but overall the car's not bad. I really like the white CF in the interior.

I don't like those wheels on a CL, though. I think they look great on a large sedan like the S-Class, but I don't think they're quite sporty enough for a two-door car like the CL.

Did you notice the top mounted intercoolers, similar to the SLR.

I'd rock it.

Replace the wheels with Monolites and it's a gem. Splitters aren't my taste, but definitely eye-catching.

As others have stated, interior is awesome.

All the cars in my Sig are sold except the GNX

And yes ... I DONT SEE THE POINT IN buying a CTS-V or a lot of other cars over a CL65 or CL55 or CLS55.....or other AMG's..... IMO....

CTS-V coupe $67k

CL65 $35k

and the CL65 is a better car at a 5 year older rate at that......

I have been behind the wheel of the CTSV coupe for a week....

I think that you know that I owned an '05 CL65 for 2+ years. My biggest gripe with the CL65 is the suspension. The ABC suspension had a couple of ($5K in total) issues fixed under my extended warranty.

Aside from the repairs, it never really drove the way I wanted it to. The suspension/handling in the CTS-V provides much better communication and responds much better to steering input and actually handles/absorbs road imperfections way better than the CL65. Which initially was quite surprising given how much $ MB/AMG spent with the ABC suspension (and how heavy it makes the car).

But there is the problem. "Cheaper" cars like the CTS-V have made strides in suspension dynamics and solutions (updated magnetic ride control) compared to the hydraulic suspension pieces in a car designed 10 years ago like the W215 CL.

Also, my point was that people like variety. I had my CL65, and enjoyed it. But for me, I wanted something different... something "newer". I am not bashing the CL65. For the price of entry, a used CL65 is an amazing performance/luxury bargain. But I always caution people as far as potential maintenance/repair bills. I don't see the need to bash people for not buying a CL65. In other threads you seem like you were so content that people who passed over your car and bought lower mileage CL65s were having mechanical issues with their cars. That was poor form.... and if you love your CL65 as much as you say you do.... you should be just happy that you are still driving it.

What people want in an automobile varies greatly and there are many reasons somebody chooses one car over another. At face value, a used CL65 is certainly an impressive car for the money.

As for comparisons, is a CTS-V still a poor choice in your mind when compared against a new CL65? Is the CL65 worth 100k MORE than a CTS-V? Maybe even the same could be said of your GNX. My first new car was a 1986 Buick GN. Was the GNX worth nearly twice the price of the standard GN?

All of this is hypothetical and only important based on the priorities of the owner for their vehicle. For the record, I love all the cars mentioned in this discussion.

Very true. This appears to be a very similar car to the one RENNtech entered into the Super Tuner challenge. It has the same exhaust and clearly mentions in the article that the interior was "swathed in dazzling metal-covered carbon fiber".
