Considering 305/35/19 MT Drag Radials

305/35/19 Mickey Thompson Drag Radials are due out this spring,
http://www.summitracing.com/search/b...?Ns=Rank%7cAsc

I have a few questions, assuming the wheels fit with the suspension raised and spacers as needed for my CL65.

I was looking on the below site at the specific dimensions of the tires which also show indicated speed compared to stock. the larger diameter gives an indicated speed of 58 mph at 60 mph, meaning 116 mph at 120. Based on the percentage shown if I trap 125 mph in the 1/4 it is an indicated speed of 121 mph. Is that enough to keep the tranny from shifting into 4th gear before the end of the quarter? On street tires it seems so close to the end of the quarter. I'm sure a TCU wouldn't hurt either. My best ET was 11.34 sec. @125.9 mph on PS2s first day at the track. I am wondering what the potential of a LSD and sticky tires are with the same setup, thinking there may be more to gain if the tranny stays in 3rd for a few more feet!!!

I am sure interested to see if the MT's will fit with out rubbing too bad. I don't think the tire hight will be too big of an issue plus at the track you will probably be running around 20 PSI which will lower the height a little bit. On the flip side you are right the car always wants to shift right a the lights, a little bit taller tire might just help keep you stay in gear just a bit longer to help your trap speed.

Great times on PS2s! So what do you have done to your car? What kind of 60 foots did you get?

The stock 275/35/19 tire is 10.82" wide the 305/35/19 is an even 12" wide. (1.18" wider), so if the difference was equal to each side it would be .59" inward and .59" out. (just a little over a 1/2"). I'd like to think with a small spacer to keep the sidewalls from rubbing inside it could work along with the suspension raised for tire height to avoid rubbing on the outside. I Never heard of anyone rolling fenders on a 65 since the body is not metal. I need to look to see if there is metal underneath that could be stretched out and the rear quarters would just follow, like I said, I'm guessing, I really haven't looked. As far as the car, I have a Eurocharged tune for over a year, along with their supplemental H/E and cm-30. My best 60 ft was a 1.88 with the street tires, so I really feel there is alot to gain with the drag radials, and an LSD. I'd like to dream that a 1.7X 60' ft could land me very close to a 10.99-11.1X pass. Hopefully time will tell and why not set goals high.

I tried 305's on my CL and they hit the strut on the inside and extended past the fender on the outside. I would imagine a drag radial would be even worse because they tend to really flex out on the sides.

Did you have spacers on your wheels and they still rubbed? Was it on aftermarket wheels with different offsets or on stock 19s? I don't think 305's are possible without a spacer even more so considering the sidewall flex on a drag radial. Also it does not seem possible to roll the quarters on a 65 from what I can see.

Aftermarket wheels. Don't recall the offsets but they were correct for the CL. Rolling the fender lip would not be enough. You would need to strech the fender out around 3/4 of an inch for it to work properly without hitting the strut and the fender. A body shop may be able to work it out but the fender would probably need to be repainted.

Here is a picture with 305's. They were hitting the inside ABC strut and sticking out quite a bit.

Thanks for the pic, to stick out that far and still rub is not worth it. Check the other post about cl tire sizes, (I kinda asked the same question) Was this on 19 inch wheels? Maybe a taller sidewall will flex out and rub.
