Hit Traffic Debris....need advice

Early morning around 1AM, I was on my way home after a great weekend, until I got off a freeway exit and then proceeded to slam into a big *** truck tire in the MIDDLE OF THE F***ING ROAD. No way to avoid it...

Split my CF front lip in 3 places....lost my grille for both fogs...both my sidemarkers also popped out (thought that was funny)...bumper cracked near lip area...and probably some other places where I haven't inspected yet

A person who stopped at the same gas station as me told me he barely avoided the same tire 2-3 minutes after I slammed into it. I probably pushed it out of the way. He was the lucky one.

My question(s): Should I go through insurance or repair this myself?

Can I sue the city for damages?

Man what a bummer, sorry to hear about that. You should get a cost and then see if you want to pay yourself or use Insurance.

Bummer !!

I've decided to take my car to Benz Works for the repairs. I got a great deal + I'm finally lowering the car and removing those license plate holes at the same time.

Bummer, sorry to hear.. Sounds like it was just the tire on the road..
It happened to me in another car with the wheel and tire bouncing on the freeway off a mini-van.. Those are the most deadly and will take out a bunch of cars.. went underneath in front and complete dislodged the radiator and all.. avoid at all costs if you see it in time..

You should have gone through insurance. It's comprehensive if you use the right words. PM me if you need advice. Your rates don't go up. Paying out of pocket is dumb.

it all depends on your deductable.. if your deductable is $1000... your insurance will prolly give you around my guess..
$2200 new front bumper
$500 for paint
$300 for grills
$200 for labor
total is $3200

your insurance can give you around $3000 to fix this at a bodyshop....

you can keep the $3000 cash and minus the $1000 you paid for deductable and now you have $2000 dollars cash to spend on your car to fix it in any way ( used bumper off ebay) ect you get my point... or if you love your cl65 and want it to be done right, then take it to the body shop and pay your insurance the deductable and they will fix it like new.. my suggestion once you get it painted, go buy the clear bra protector for the front bumper so it keeps it clean and no scratches.....

if you end up NOT going through insurance you can end up paying around $800 from your pocket..for a body shop to do a bad job like fiber glass the bumper and re spray paint it and buy new grills.... it better to pay the extra $200 and do it right

goodluck

P.S that damn front bumper is soo expensive.. notice all mercedes dealers park all the mercedes cars (backed in to a spot) so they do not hit the front bumper on the parking block

for you sneaky people out there... if you want un-bolt your heat exhanger near your front bumper and just turn it 1/4 of a turn just to make it look like it broke and bent... so when your insurance company comes to look at it they will see it is broken off and they will give it a extra who know $1000 for a new heat exhanger or how ever much they cost.. and now just re bolt your heat exchanger back the way it was and you just made a extra $1000

You will not be able to successfully sue (or even place a damage claim) with the City or State Highway. If it was a pothole or a damaged section of road that would be a different situation, even a raised manhole.

I am sorry to see the damage, that sucks. I cringe everytime I see pieces of truck tire and debris on the road. Hope she is all fixed soon!
