cl65 heat exchanger pump upgrade

so as we all know are stock pump puts out 3.0 GPM of flow... and i just got a meziere electric pump that flows 20 GPM with 2 years warranty, now this pump is beefy and i know i will not have any air temp issues now i will post some picture of the pump installation from start to end.. i took the factory pump off and built a bracket that will bolt to the factory pump location on the car and this plate will hold my new meziere electric pump. i cut, shaped and painted the plate. once i installed the pump i simply slid the stock water hose on the my new pump and the second hose was 1 inch to short so i found the perfect hose, after wiring the unit i started the car and bled the hole system... i used drinking water with motul Mr cool additive... after a 20 min run on the freeway i touched the after coolers and they were super super cold i could not believe it...

1st pic is the stock pump 2nd pic is my new pump 3rd pic has the rusty bracket installed, and in the 4th pic you can see the same bracket finished up and painted, 5th has the hole unit installed,

NOTE: i have cleaned and made everything look nice a tidy, i did not take a pic of that

i could not believe that this unit fit so perfectly in the stock location i was shocked

I'm assuming its not plug and play for the wiring and some soldering is needed.

i did my usual 20-30 min drive from work and i touched the coolers and they were very cool to the touch, this new pump is very impressive...

and lol i feel like a dummy i always thought the cooler in the middle of the front bumper was the heat exchanger for the turbo, and i was wrong the turbo heat exchanger is sandwiched between the A/C condensor and radiator

I have the johnson pump but if it fails I will definitely go with this meizere one. What I don't understand is that you said you touched the aftercoolers and they were cool to the touch after a 20 min run? You mean intercoolers right? If so I'm not sure how they can be super cool after getting to operating temp because the engine bay is very hot along with everything in it.

yes i am refering to the intercoolers... after coming home from work i would feel my intercoolers and notice that it is super hot and u can NOT rest your hand on the intercooler for more then 3 sec before my hands burns..... and now i can leave my hands on the intercooler for 5 min before it even gets hot

i never thought there would of been a market for this bracket... im tempted in making some lol

this unit has worked flawlessly, and have not noticed any issues yet..
honestly for the price you are getting a great unit and i believe they have a pretty good warrentee against pump failure.. also the fact that it fits in the exact location as the factory pump makes it worth all the money

.

I have one question.... this new pump is bigger that OEM. I have heard that you cannot use same electric cables that the old pump use.... they are to small. I think the OEM pump need 1,8Amp and the new one 8 Amp.
So I wonder from where you took the electricite?
I bought my pump from Speedriven and I have not yet change it.
Speedrivens pump is much cheaper than Rennetech.

Thank you...

Juha

All the more reason you should make a small batch! :0) I am sure you can make a minigroup buy. I would definitely buy one, maybe even two if it would help the GB happen.

This is a good question. Did you use the factory wires or did you run bigger wires to the pump? I think the factory wires were 20 gauge so they may not be rated high enough for the current draw of the meziere pump?

I just had my oem pump replaced with the new version of it. My indy mechanic just pinched off the suction and discharge hoses for the pump, placed the pump and fired it up. No real need to bleed the system as there was vertially no fluid loss. Mercedes wanted $650 to replace the pump because they were going to drain all the fluid, replace the pump and then add in the fluid bleeding the whole system.

BTW how are the spacers working out? No rubbing still?

Or you can get the new Bosch pump (ends with 10) for about $120 delivered and call it a day. It is a direct fit and flows more than the old stock pump as well as being more reliable.
