Cl65 Amg

The CL65AMG can actually produce up to 838lbs of torque. I hope my memory is correct. It is written up in Road and Track. The reason they limit the torque to 1000nm right now is because the transmission of the Maybach can't handle that much torque. Hence, the 7G transmission coming ( I think).

Price $190,000. Coming to USA - don't know.

2003 CL55 AMG
As of right now there has been no commitiment from MBUSA to bring the CL65 into the US.

The new 7 Speed Transmissions will not be offered in AMG models at least for the first year of their introduction per MBUSA.

Only time will tell.

It is actually roughly 888 lb/feet of torque, and 700hp.
I do suspect that this is the reason for the new transmission, although it will still have to be seriously reinforced. Even then, I doubt they will unleash all the potential power. I am curious as to the SL65 and its performance. It should be on par with the upcoming SLR.

Can you image that much power and torque. That is almost 300 lbs more torque and 200 more hp than the 55 AMG engines right now.

Interesting in C&D this month. They tested the S600. It actually had better times than the E55 that C&D tested last month. The numbers to look at was 5-60 0-100. Quarter Mile and 0-60 was off by .1 seconds in favor of the E55. But think, the S600 is about 4700 lbs if I remember. How in the world can that thing keep up with the E55 at 4000-4200 lbs? 25hp and the torque. That engine is incredible. So, image an E65 AMG. I think that would just be the complete ultimate car. I understand it doesn't quite fit under the hood, so how about a E63AMG or something close to that. I read somewhere the CL600 or was it the CL 55 does 0-100 in 8.8 seconds. What would be cool is to have an E class that can do 0-100 in 8 sec flat.
Anyways, I am dreaming. 190,000 for a CL65AMG is also quite a bit of money for my wallet.

The E65 AMG is a matter of will on the part of AMG rather than a technical feasability. Since the V12 fits under the hood of the Brabus E V12 (and this engine is heavily tuned), I am quite sure that the 6 liter AMG V12 can fit under the E hood. I mean, how much larger can this engine be in comparison with the 55 engine?

The V12 is a huge engine. I had the opportunity to see both the V8 Kompressed engine on a stand next to a V12 twin turbo engine. The V12 was noticeably bigger.

Re: Cl65 Amg

I also don't think the 5.98 litres from the 65AMG should fit in the E-class. The hood is already filled with that 5.4litres V8, although tey did suceed to squize in the 5.54 litres V12 from the 600-class. But I don't think the 5.98 would fit in, because it already is si tight in there... That half a liter does need some room too...

and as Awiner sad the V12 is alot bigger then a V8

Who can confirm 700HP?

0-100mph in 8.8? That is pretty impressive, this tuner friendly 65 engine should mean business.

In the C&D magazine, the representative( could be president) spoke about the CL65 as having 700 HP.

I read in one of the magazine about 4 months ago of the 0-100 time of 8.8 seconds. Sorry, I don't remember which one. If R&D can get 9.4 seconds on the E55 on the run to 0-100, then 8.8 seconds sounds feasible with 150 more hp and lots more torque to me.

Feasible?

WIth more than 200HP and 300ft lbs of torque, the SL65 if it weighed a maximum of 2 tons, which it probably won't, could break into the 7 seconds sector!
