That's what I have read.

I'm just not happy with pirelli and my last set of michelin pilots. They were new on my car and are bad in rain. It looks like I'm going to get 10 k out of them and they plow on dry pavement. Maybe that is your sidewall problem as they break side to side.

Anyway this will be my next tire. I'm thinking 25k miles which is well worth it.

a week into the PSS and so far they are great. Quite and Sticky. Ended up at 1400$ installed in CA (way to many fees). They make an XL load rating (called Ferrari), that should help the cupping.

I had a set of the DWs as well and concur that the wet performance is much better then the sport contacts and dry grip is pretty good. They also last a sh*t load longer. If you drive the car like a luxury GT and occasional play around these tires are a great choice. If you're gonna drive the car like a 20 something year old then you might want to go with some of the other recommendations in the thread.

So I need some advice. I have about 10k miles on my 2012 CL63 and the rear tires Continental Conti are pretty much done. The fronts however still have about half of the tread left. My question is has anyone on here run different tires in the front and rear? Is this a safe setup? How does it affect the performance of the car? I've gotten mixed answers from various tire shops. I would really like to try out the Pirelli p zeros if this sort of setup would work.

Need to keep the tire diameters the same or very close to satisfy the stability electronics, other than that it can work, although I expect you may not like the result depending on your guess of the mix. The tire makers would most likely advise to stay with a matched set for multiple reasons. I would get a new set.

Sticky, quiet, good wear {400AA} nice ride
Drove on P Zero Nero (good not great)
Dunlop - terrible (wear, noisy, traction)
Hankook - cheap in all that that word connotes - great for first half then very noisy - rapid uneven wear despite correct setup
Michelin tires good but there is a premium to be paid for the name when other comparables avail for less $$
