Cl55 or supra tt?????

Guys I'm thinking about selling the cl after 1 yr. I kinda want a supra tt or a Gtr. Ive put some money on my cl in the last year and I gotta tell you it moves. I just Dont want to make the mistake of getting a supra and it being slower than my cl. I know that a Gtr is obviously quicker.

Please give me our inputs and thoughts. As you can see my cl is super clean with only 63k miles!!!!! I'm wondering how much a can get for it.

Supra is a money pit. I could have bought a house for what I put into mine, don't do it.

I currently own a 94 single turbo supra. I also own a CL65 (which is higher maintenance than your CL55) and can tell you without a doubt, my supra is a faster car. The CL is a quieter more comfortable car to drive.

To buy into a well modded supra that has been taken care of, after selling your CL55, you might have to throw money on top to get the supra. They hold their value quite well considering the car is 18 years old.

Dang is that right. I thought imports were cheaper to mod. This is my 1st Benz and I tell you I feel it's a bit pricy to upgrade. Maybe cuz I have a cl?

I've seen a few for sale in the $20-30k. I don't mind putting money to buy one but it better be faster. I'm looking for speed and fun to drive. Are supra expensive to maintain?? Any supra shops in ca?? I want a 6pd but they are all auto.

Maintenance can be a ***** same as the Mercedes. There is also a Supra tax on parts just like the Mercedes. The supra will be more raw and loud where as the mercedes is refined and classy.

It sounds to me like you need to trade in the 55 for a 65...

Thanks. I live in Canada so getting the car back to you would be costly. I do most of the work on my cars except engine and brakes. Everything is forsale my friend...

TBD
My dad owns an '04 CL55 and a '98 Supra TT (bone stock except HKS intake and exhaust). Two completely different but equally rewarding. Bought the Supra off a lease in '00, has put about 20K on it in 12 years, its at 50K I think.

I know the ceiling is unlimited with those things, both performance and pocketbook. Hell, it's a pretty wild ride to begin with, although the CL probably has it beat straightline in stock trim.

My Dad turns 70 today, still get a kick out of the looks he and my Mom get cruising in that thing...most commented on vehicle he has ever owned over countless P-cars, Benzes, BMWs etc...

It sounds to me that the op needs to educate himself about the supras. They are a very different animal than a big heavy luxo cruiser with gobs of tq.

You think a CL55 costs a lot to mod??? Just wait till you get the GTR and the GTR tax applies. You need deeeeeeppppppp pockets to be able to run and maintain a GTR. In the looks department, a stock GTR looks horrible. One of the ugliest cars to come out of Japan. But the performance is unbelievable. I think for the money, I would jump into a used 997 Twin Turbo.

I'm buying it from Oregon or wa to save on tax lol!! Got family there. Will drive and store in ca. I don't feel like maintaining a Nissan is as much as a benzo. The looks are
Ok but man performance is what I'm more going for. The new Porsche 911 beats the Gtr by .01 secs. It's a 50k difference in price.

Dude we're not comparing the average Nissan Altima to a high-class Mercedes. This is the GT-R you're talking about. What you "feel" about Nissan doesn't mean anything. You should really do some research.

You know how many times my friend went through transmissions? How much he spent to upgrade his car to 650hp? How much a brake change is? It's gonna be WAYYYYY more expensive than the Benz. OP is thinking it's gonna be cheap because it's a "Nissan" lol.....

looking at the price bump for the "regular" 992 carrera... the new turbo will be a 170k+ imo...

but nothing wrong with a 997 or a 996 turbo

Like stated above the GTR will cost TONS of money to build and maintain. A supra is a awesome highway car but it isnt going to take off like your CL. I would just do some more mods on the CL imo.

I appreciate our input guys. Really I thought Gtr would be as expensive. I see performance parts way cheaper than for the CL. I love my car don't get wrong. Just was looking for something funner. What do you recommend for performance next?

I raced a new challenger srt. I won but kept up. Felt like I should of killed him. I don't wanna bearly win. Also a gto Pontiac kept up too. I was a bit disappointed. Luckily I had the tune and pulley etc. if it weren't for that I would got killed!!!

Go with a V12TT, 600 or 65 you can bet the bang for the buck.

For something more fun and still a good bang for the buck a 996 P car.

You should be test driving cars to make up your mind as to what you like want.
