Woah!

I've never seen that image as being confirmed as the new CL (S Class Coupe) body. Looks really special tho. I was never a fan of the W216. I only like the side profile of it (and interior). But the front and rear are far from special. It's the lines/silhouette that make that car, not it's features. You'll have to wait a short wile until the new CL actually does come out and is officially revealed. Then wait til they have a release date. Then wait til it's released. Then wait for the AMG models. Then wait for your option list to customize it (Designo whatever) to be made to made to your liking. Which you will probably wait for as it seems you like your top of the range in every way Mercedes (that paint on that Designo CL65 is gorgeous!
SO, what I'm saying is, you will wait. Either til the upcoming 2013 March (which is 7 1/2 months away) or sometime much longer after you could get the W216. You can't go wrong with either. Both are from the same bloodline, which is Mercedes-Benz' greatest coupe offering.
Get the W216. You'll lose money, but trade it in IF IF IF you like how the new one looks and feels. You may hate how the new one will look. Even if you get the W217(?), the moment you drive off you've lost thousands lol. So wait 7 or so months and know you're going to get something you know you already like. Have fun, enjoy yourself. That CL65 Designo has to be at least $200,000 without taxes and all other automobile fees necessary. That car, it's only purpose is to make you feel great.

Thank you

Yes, it will drop like a rock. The 2011-13 are great to look at. I couldn't stand the 07-10. I own a CL600 for 2011 but I wanted to bump it up a notch with this CL65. My feeling is, if I let this one go and they don't have the amazing offerings as the 2014, I'll kick my self. I have made the deal at 205 so I'm basically getting all the options for free and then some. They will not make a 65 for a dealership to sit on the floor, it has to be a special order customer car only. This is the most amazing color in the world and the interior color and the pearl stone accents are insane. I actually love everything about this 65. You get a 600 plus plus plus. This is an actual photo of the 2013 in Europe. They get their models one year ahead of us. I also have the full pic of the 2014 S class which is UGLY!! If were me I would have removed the Volkswagen hump on the front fender like they did with the 2011, W216 and kept the car going a bit longer. People who own MBZ cars buy them to keep and like to see a model run for 10-12 years. That is the way most like them to stay. If you keep changing the models you lose brand loyalty. It's not like the main stream car class that needs to update to keep customers coming in. They need to stay true too each model at least like they do with the SL's. Refine them and then change after a decade has passed. I think it is a mistake changing every 7 years. The resale would hold up much better. If anyone is going to dump their 07-10 CL they better do it within the next 7-8 months because once the new model is out there, the value is going to start down like the W215 did, which really upsets me because I bought a new 2006 CL 600 and it only has 7k miles in Bordeaux and Java and its worth maybe 30k, if I'm lucky and when the next gen comes out, 23k on a really sunny day. So, every time the model changes the customer takes a deeper bath. Back to the matter at hand, I want to see what the rear looks like, the color offerings are, the trim offerings are, if the 65 will still be on the table as well. The pic I am showing is a standard base. Not bad looking for sure but I'd like to see what an AMG would look like from all angles, drive one get the feel for it. I'ts going to be a very tough decision for me to make, money aside.

Think about the bath you're going to take on that car, and take a step back. CL's free fall in value the instant they roll off the dealer lot.

Most wealthy people do not become that way by losing 50% of their invested capital in a year.

Well, according the designo, it is real granite,
"When it comes to designo the customer can choose from six different exclusive trim options: natural maple grain and matt natural oak grain as well as two high-sheen piano lacquer trim options in black or champagne white. The unique designo stone trim elements made from genuine granite are available in two versions for the S-Class: Labrador blue pearl and black Star Galaxy.
I actually made a thread before asking if anyone had a picture of a W215 CL with the 'optional granite' trim. I heard Jeremy Clarkson back in 2004, I believe, while reviewing the CL65 saying you could get it with the optional granite trim. I have yet to see one with it in person though.
Now what I would love to see is the high-sheen champagne white piano lacquer trim.

And this piece here is rather special. This is no ordinary granite rear A/C vent.

OK, first of all I LOVE my 215, Love it but it is looking a little out dated but I'm not getting rid of it. I am keeping it. Second, I have always bought my cars NEW, not used, only once and never again. Third, the latest 216 is really beautiful I'm my own eyes, I can't say that about the early version but I can about the 11 till present. Fourth, it might be a composite that has been pressed with pearl to make it look like granite, I'm not sure, I'd have to call MBZ direct to get a real answer on that. Fifth, as for the money, trust me that isn't even an issue, never has been never will be, my father and his father before him didn't ever have to worry about that. My post was to show the new car I ordered and then yesterday I saw the newer version. I am confused about what to do and wanted some opinions as to if the newer one would be a better choice or the older style, which will look very current for a long while. I will be keeping the car as I usually never sell a special order car and usually never put any miles on them. As for the 2014 maybe I should buy both and special order a different color and configuration and be done. I just to be honest was never a real fan of the 216 as I am about the 215 but am beyond fond of the one I'm ordering. I just wonder if I get it and like the other one better, I know I'll lose my back side on the car once the body changes. It's like if I don't do it now the 7 month build out time window will be gone and I might not like the 217 as well. Then I'd kick my self. Just wanted opinions. Thank you for your input so far. This has always been my downfall. I wait too late to decide and then I'm screwed. Don't want to have that happen this time. Its not like my Aston Martin, where it will always look amazing. Mercedes and BMW's tend to look very dated after a model change. I just saw the new BMW 6 Series for 2013 and I went nuts and I have to be honest, there hasn't been a BMW I would take on a bet. I'm going to look at one today.

Thank you for clarifying that. I thought they said it was real granite. I love it. They don't have the display showing the material but Beverly Hills MBZ does and I'm going up there to look at what I'm actually getting by touching and seeing the real materials. The rear air vent for the Designo is actually standard on the 600 Designo series models and I think an option on the regular Designo cars. The silver script will be under the lacquer finish that is over the granite so people wont pick at it or steal it. Even the steering wheel is special for the AMG Designo, I will get the AMG steering wheel but instead of the perferations and or fake suede it will be the stone like the wood wheels. Rather impressive I might ad.

I don't think you really know any, " real old money wealthy people". I am like my father who bought a new car every year for both himself, my mother and each of my brothers and sisters and the occasional cousin. I think every two years is more than fine because I don't drive more than 3,500 miles a year. So, I do not appreciate being lumped into the category of "Most wealthy people" those are people who make good money not people with "vast fortunes" One last thing it isn't invested capital, it is monthly interest I am spending and I am always re-investing my interest, I just wanted a new car. Why is this an issue? I just asked a question about which car I should buy. My father taught me," It isn't what you make, it is what you do with what you make". I know a lot of people that make a lot of money and are in debt to the point, if something were to happen it would all crumble, like a house of cards. I only pay cash for my homes, boats, planes, cars, or anything that I need. Another thing he taught me, "If you can't afford to pay cash you cant afford it". I'm not buying a used car if I can afford a new one. Someone will always have to take the depreciation, that my friend is life. So please do not make this a money issue make this about what car would be the hottest. I still own my very first car and I now have about 40 cars. I will keep this car, so I want it to be something in 30 plus years I can be proud of.

Go build a school, if u've done it, build another one and the one after, if you have 40 cars, this one wont make a difference, so buy two and then find more important things to worry yourself over, such as how to improve the world around you further.

Oh jeez! This isn't a Good Christian Mercedes of America forum. Why can't the guy just get some reasonable answers to his questions. Sure, he introduced the tone of having extreme wealth, but if that's his situation, so be it. I could care less, but I hate when people drift off topic as to what was asked and not what one should do with their money. His obvious next big purchase is either a 2013 CL or 2014 CL which he is asking on the CL section of MBWorld. Just try and give him opinions. Who knows, he could be a humanitarian that's donating millions to charity, but that's not what's in question.

red car looks amazing... in my POV the silver CL you posted looks like a mixture of a E-class that is stretch , with the CLS front, and E-class wheels and those side mirrors are terrible.... silver CL does not have that one off look like how it use too

red cl for the win
