ECU/TCU 600 V12TT vs Renntech Stage 1 E55???

My buddy just bought a E55 Stage 1 Renntech car, his first call out was to me. He has no idea about these cars and he only knew one person that owned a 55K which was me when I had my SL55 AMG. His first question to me was why did you downgrade to a CL. My only response was silence to see what he said next. His question was as follows " is it a CL500 CL55 CL600 or the V12 TT" again I froze up and The next thing out of his mouth came with a response from me which was I will run that thing down any day for any amount My response was simple. WHEN AND WHERE?
So we are lining up a $$$ race and I'm in process of getting some tires to hook up for the car as I write this. We might do this on the street or at the track. Details have not been agreed on yet but I what do you guys think my chances are? I know it might be a stupid question since I had a 55k but mine was not a renntech stage 1 and some guys do pretty well on this forum in the E55s. I love the car but when someone who has no clue what they are talking about runs their mouth I will not stand and listen to nonsense.

My car
2003 CL600
SPEEDRIVEN ECU/TCU TUNE
K&N FILTERS

That would do it. sitting on 20s. So the only changes before this soon to happen race would be a 18 inch Mickey Thompson ET Street 245/40/18, with a light weight 18 inch wheel which I have not decided on yet.

Thanks

Are you racing him from a standpoint, or roll-on?

I'm no expert, but I think you want a 265 mt et street. Also, make sure that your IC pump is operating correctly, that will kill you more than anything. But I don't know what a Renntech stage one entails...also, do yourself a favor and go to a dragstrip. Street racing can get you are someone else killed or arrested.

I'm guessing standpoint but I know he is on a 18inch street tire.

Yes I will be most likely going to the track.

Thanks! I hope so as well. Not saying anything bad about the 55K but I just don't see how I would loose other than not hooking up which is something that I will strongly focus on before the race. I love how the 55k moves but this guy thinks he can outrun me on a 18inch street tire with all that TQ.

After some spirited driving, stop pop the hood and push on the intercooler bleeder valves. if they don't squirt fluid, then you have a problem. They should be quite warm to the touch.

Also practice your launches. Being a turbo car, as boost builds its not uncommon to spin the tires at a higher speed then a lower speed. Its almost as if you stab the pedal a bit and then ride the edge of losing traction before getting into the safe zone for wide open throttle. Traction control off otherwise the smallest amount of spinning will stop all the fun. It becomes a combo of car, driver, tire and temp. You gotta just do some 0-60 pulls to learn the car then from there anyone can steer. Good luck.
