Trans Dipstick 2005 CL65 AMG

2005 CL65 AMG

I got a trans dipstick via ebay, it seems to be too long ! Am I doing anything wrong here ? I stick it in and its a foot or so too long. Is there a secret ? How long should it be ? I could measure the one I have but I packaged it up to send the thing back. The stick was to be a direct replacement part, not a hack to fit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The shop dipstick does stick out about a 8" - 12" as you are seeing. It is a shop tool only.

It is not meant to stay in the dipstick tube other than for measuring quantity.

Yes. It does stick out as it is not designed to be a a stock plug replacement.

I was wondering the same thing. The dipstip seemed to be a specific length, and I figured it was so the oil level would be measured right when the top of the stick was at the top of the tube. Guess that's not the case. I read a thread here where people argued a lot about how the dip stick should work, and some one was adamant that the stick should NOT touch the tranny sump. Ah well.
