I'm new to this forum but not AMG's or MB's, i have had a c32 amg, and sl500. both where 03 & 04's.
I am looking at purchasing a 2008 CL63 with less than 20K miles and need to know if i should pay to have a MB dealer inspect the car? Or if there are any known problem areas i should look for to see if it was well maintained etc...

Any help is greatly appreciated and I look forward to many more postings after I purchase one.

Def get an inspection and ext. warranty

Will locate a MB dealer and pay for the inspection. I assume they will offer some sort of warranty, not sure if they will or even can offer a certified warranty if they are not selling the car.

And it's my understanding that these cars....engines are pretty bullet proof relative to the class of high performance cars it competes with, am I wrong on this?

I appreciate the feedback, I am on my way now to ( answering 02CL55amg's question in the process) New York to personally inspect, test drive, and take to Mercedes for a scheduled appointment for a multpoint inspection.
Anything I should request from MB dealer to check? Car has under 17K miles and was on eBay so if anyone has info on it im all ears until I purchase if all is clean.

Low mileage cars tend to scare me! Please get a warranty, trust me.

Bought it, aside from needing to replace rear tires MB dealer said car was perfect through inspection. Drove it over 900 miles home and was the best trip of my life even the hour it took me to just get across Manhattan! (replaced rear tires in DC they were to the cords) Here is a pic, now time for some engine mods.....
