ques. about stock jack

hi, read a horror story about someone who jacked up a s class using the trunk provided jack and his car fell and he says he bent the frame. he went to the dealer and mbusa and both told him they wouldn't use the jack. anyone have any input on using the stock jack for changing tires. i was thinking of buying a scissor jack to keep in the trunk for emergencies after i read that post. do you think it's a good idea, or necessary? anyone have experience using the stock jack?
thanks

The stock jack is dangerous in my opinion. The issue is the way it integrates into the lifting point. The round pole that fits into the body doesn't lock in any way and if the jack starts to slip it rotates and you car will fall.

I have seen this happen at least once on a CL. Luckily the wheel was still on the car so no harm no foul but could have cause not only damage to the vehicle but injury.

the stock jack is adequate when the other wheel on the opposite side is chocked. there is a reason why there is a chock in the kit.

Because it's too big obviously, but yeah it's definitely nice to have something like that! Last time when I had to put my spare on (in the middle of nowhere lol, I had to call AAA to have it mounted because I didn't find my jack!

Not big at all. This is not a full sized floor jack but a smaller version in a carrying case.

Model No.: T82015W
Shipping Weight (in pounds): 22.05
Product in Inches (L x W x H): 26.77 x 11.22 x 7.28

Yeah, you can't really tell how big it is when you look at it online. Hopefully I'm not gonna need one anytime soon. I just cracked my rim. lol

I had it replaced while I was in NYC. Freaking $1300. It wasn't really bad but it was leaking so I had to put a spare on, then look for a shop, use temporary silicone and when I got to the city I got a new rim. It happened in the middle of nowhere in north carolina lol
