2005 cl65 amg for sale
i think its time to sell my 2005 cl65, i have invested around $25,000 in maintenance and performance items, every common v12 issue you can think of has been replaced from engine to suspension to brakes about 1 year ago from the dealership and have every receipt to prove it. here is basic short description about the car. 2005 cl65 silver exterior with black interior, has 80k on the OD suspension is lowered, new Michelina tires, front mount turbo cooler, water pump upgrade for the turbo, ecu tune, tcu tune, fuel injectors are cleaned and balanced, upgraded air filter, also i have the best ceramic tint 70% on windows and 80% on windshield ( tint cost around $1000 ) i have stainless steel cat-less down pipes for the car but they are NOT installed, I'm sure there is more that i forgot to list. so i am asking $30,000 what do you guys think is it a good deal? i am thinking about putting it on eBay or craigslist

Seems like people are selling them to cheap, not good for any of us
Ask higher first and then come down.

Agree, I know these cars are expensive to maintain, but there aren't that many around in great shape and some people , like all of us were at some point, are searching for the right one.

not really. and it has little to do with price.
the car simply has no buyers.
the people that can buy it for cash are not interested in a high mileage expensive to maintain car.
the people that would buy it because are mechanically inclined and know that 80k is not high mileage for that car ... cannot finance it as only some credit unions will do a 7-year car.
that is what has been plaguing the resale value for years. furthermore as those cars become unfinancialble next year (8-year old cars) it will get even worse.
my advice is - there is nothing out there currently that is significantly better for the money. so maintain your car as needed and enjoy it for all it is.

It's nuts to think that this car (I remember back in like 05 seeing a FULLY equipped one for 210,000$) now has gone so low in price. I always thought, or hoped, that the W215 (especially in AMG form) would be a classic car. It's weird, because honestly regardless of engine size you rarely see these CLs. I swear, I see much more W216 CLs on the road, as rare as they are as well. It's a shame because I shutter to think what it will be like in 10 more years.. It's not like they're going to gain value as time goes, and parts are still going to be crazy expensive. It'll be a sad day when you can buy a clean CL65 for 10,000$.
But whatever, to me a CL55/65 is the most attractive Mercedes-Benz vehicle made in the last 20 years (not including their super cars, SLR, SLS)
Just a bummer that they haven't held up their value. I blame the 02-07 C Class.
Good luck to the OP, I hope you get the most you possibly can for it, or change your mind and decide to stay in it. It still has features in it that don't come in MOST brand new 2013 cars, even MB's. So for 30K$ you really can't "upgrade". Even if you got a new CL63 Biturbo, sure you'll get some nice LEDs, but it'll just not have the effect or respect that this car has to me. Niche, this defines it.

Hey guys. I bought that cl 65 in florida got it for 24,650. A steal. Drove it back to New York. Had it flashed by renntech though before driving it back. 670 HP & a mind bending 840n pound feet of torque. I had a 2004 CL 600 flashed by renntech that I lost in the superstorm Sandy.
The car is solid. needs some basic service, suspension & brakes, nothing too insane . Control arms, etc.
THe gas mileage is noticably lower. The best I could get over a 1200 mile trip was 18.6, versus 22 to 23MPG with the 600.
THe AMG is a much tighter car though.
Look at it this was, a 2005 Porsche Turbo, which the cl will eat for lunch cant be touched for south of 50K.
All I can conclude is that no one knows about these cars. Positively no one has one, which I find vewry appealing. I figure over the next 10K miles, I will need to put a few grand into it. Still making it a steal.

Goodluck with that. That's not minor things. Those things there can easily set you back $10000 in a heart beat. But at least you put a tune on it before you fixed the suspension and brakes.

Rpfesq, was that the car at the chrysler dealer in vero beach fl?
#25
Yeah was the vero beach car. I was fully aware of what needs to be done & if someone is paying 10K for what I'm doing, well they better seriously think about switching Benz guys. The car at 24,650 was the cheapest one in the country. Basically pads(rotors still good) lower control arms, tires. ABC checks out. A great deal of service per the book already done, such as plugs coils & a whole host of other stuff. The car is very tight.
Having renntech flash the car wasnt an option. I can never go slower & the 600 with the renntech tune is faster than the stock 65 7 days a week.
I have good indy guy that knows the CL cars very well. I find it remarkable the way these cars are trashed in this forum. Like I said, find a 911 turbo of the same vintage for less than 50K. I think not. I paid less than half of that.
Think its cheaper to maintain the Carrera. No way. I'm really not sure why these cars are so cheap, which I guess is the point of this post. Dont know, but like my buddy who drove the car said to me.....if you dont buy it bro, I will
