I was driving last 2 weeks ago when I notice the performance didn't feel the same, like the turbos weren't pushing out enough when I floored it, and it didn't feel as torquey. I was thinking maybe bad injectors at first, but I haven't had a misfire, then maybe the transmission was acting up but the shifts are fine and smooth and its not rough when its in idle.
I was thinking then maybe fuel filter, but at this point I was going nuts so I took it to Eurocharged and when they started it they could already smell that bad egg smell and told me cats are prob going bad. I had to swap out a HE since I managed to get the 1-2 faulty HEs out of 500 lol, they swapped, bleed it, and ran it to make sure there was no air pockets. When they reved the engine to 3-4k rpm that exhaust smelled soooo foul. So they said it's most likely the cats. But doesn't mater new exhaust going in a month.

How do cats go bad on a 60-70k mile car? Only way I know of, is running too rich? My car has about 60k on it now...Both coils were original (or at least have the original part numbers). Having my doubts about the plugs now too. This was a forum members car and can't imagine that it wasn't taken care of. Old coil part numbers that came out were: A 275 150 04 80 (right side), A 275 150 05 80 (left side). NEW coils I just put in are: A 275 150 06 80 (right side), A 275 150 07 80 (Left side). Car runs great now. Gonna try to make the 11/16 rental at MIR.

How did the plugs look? I'm guessing you pulled one after the coils were out, you were right there... Maybe contact Marcus for some service history... What ever it is at this point its yours. Sure rub in the possibility of the rental. I'm tempted, but there are too many factors right now going against me. Good luck if you go.

I was really hoping to go to MIR, but with cats starting to clog its gonna effect my performance, and my custom exhaust wont be ready along with my other parts, maybe just hollow out my cats and re wield and just **** it till dec? lol

That's prob a good idea seeing that this morning when I was flooring it i got the CEL and a very foul smell when I'm gunning it lol, How hard is the job? Also side note how bad is the smell with no cats vs hiflow cats, when I had the car on the lift my friend I was gonna do no cats he was telling me it was gonna smell pretty bad, and I forgot about what will my GF say if the smell is bad lmao.

outside the car within 30 sec you will start smelling of gas.
inside the car no smell
Hiflow cats will help with the smell a bit.
may be a little hard getting to the vband clamps. but after that it is easy.

Soooooo after saying my coils were fine last week on monday I floored it got a cel and the got really rough. Pulled over turned the car off and on and it was fine. Had it scanned next day and turns out I had a cat sensor and 10 misfires lol. Warranty couldnt argue since it was a clear sign coils on both sides were going bad and paid out. Now I need to look for plugs to put in on weds. What do people use for the 65 amgs?

I am putting back what was in there, assuming stock plugs, NGK Laser Iridium IFR6Q-G. No reason to change to anything else. I tried to cross to a "cheaper" plug, but couldn't find any reputable sources to confirm there was one. Autozone crossed it, but I was afraid to use it. Got my new coils in and she runs like a champ. Probably going to ATCO Saturday. Big roll-on event it MIR tomorrow.

Anything special going on at ATCO? weather looks to be real good. I hope you get some good runs in before being asked to leave.

If I were you I'd try to launch a few times and let up. Then go all out for a nice run. I ran my PB there last December at a rental... It was similar weather and I was launching at 2500+rpm in manual mode allowing the tranny to do its own shifting at redline.

Kinda what I was planning..roll out a bit and just go for MPH...then after a run or 2, run it out the back door..I didn't know you could shift it like that..I think I'll just drive in D for now...

Got my new brake rotors, plugs and coils come in on Monday, and hopefully by Wednesday I can have it all installed and cut the cats out of my car and band or wield piping thru and get a tune for race gas all before MIR on Saturday. Want to see the results I get now and compare them to what i get in the spring when my lsd, exhaust, toe links etc are all in

Hopefully the HE and IC pump will make a difference since that was the first upgrade. I'm thinking about adding a trunk reservoir while I'm upgrading my other parts, and just fill that bad boy with ice whenever I'm on the track

That's my plan this Winter..a trunk resevoir. Heading to Atco tomorrow to get a flashed baseline.
