The Future AMG's
So I'm at my local dealership the other day and I'm approached by a young lady who asked if that was my 2003 CL55 with the vanity plates that she followed into the lot that read "PUREAMG" and I reply "yes, tis mine." She inquired if I'd like to attend a special evening (15 invited AMG owners only) with some VIP's from Germany? Tell me more I said and she responded that it was a focus group for this dealership only that would reveal the AMG's for the upcoming year(s) CL 65 & SL 65's included; all the stop secret/stealty stuff.
She said there would also be a drawing for two that would cost the winners $800.00 each, but they would get to go and test drive these stealty beasts. She said there would be dinner, special gifts and special prizes and just a great evening in general. So I said sign me up, we exchanged cards and e-mails and she said she'd contact me sometime next week. Anyways, I'll let you know how it all goes. She was very very excited and made it sound like this was a once in a life time opportunity.

The PR Rep just called 5:PM and said that they had an opening for the AMG Challenge on Aug 8 @7:AM and asked if I'd like to attend it (apparently there's a two year wait list). I asked when I had to give her an answer and she said, "Right now!" She gave me the log on code for the Web site and I had to post $850.00 on my VISA and I'm set to go. An eight hour day of seminars driving instructions including hot laps and road tests of all the AMG models for two hours including a luncheon and awards at the end of the day.
I was under the impression that I had to wait for the focus group on Aug 12 and there would be a drawing for two out of the fifteen attendees at the end of the evening and she said, "nope MB USA just called her and said they had two cancellations and needed the slots filled by 6:PM today.

Could be I'm new to all this, I've never been invited before, I'm only going by what she said. The point is I'm going and I'm gonna have fun too. And I'm gonna pretend it's a very exclusive opportunity.

Incredible Fun
I had an amazing time at the Daytona AMG Challenge 2 months ago. I recommend spending as much time in the E55 as possible since you already drive a CL55 and the time behind the wheel of the SL55 isn't variable. The E55 is vastly superior on the road course than the CLK55 or the 6 cylinder cars. The S55 still drives like a big car. The CL55 is my favorite overall but the E55 is the fastest.
The AMG Challenge was offered to all signed up with MB owners online and filled up within days of the original emailings 3 months ago. It was well worth the $850.

Focus Group
The dinner's/Focus Group is Tuesday night and the AMG Challenge is tomorrow at Fontana Raceway. I'll give the board an update on everything on Wednesday the 13th.
