CL65 - the costliest to insure ...

http://autos.yahoo.com/news/where-dr...174556425.html

"What’s more, the study found that those who live in Oregon and own a high-performance Mercedes-Benz CL 65 AMG luxury coupe can be expected to pay the highest car insurance rates among all U.S. motorists at a whopping annual average premium of $5,867, and that assumes a clean driving record. The national average is currently a far more modest $1,510."

I pay $2600/year for the CL. Then I have 3 more cars and a house that are also insured and cost almost as much combined.

that's crazy

wow!!! I better keep quiet, I pay $363/6 months for full coverage and 250 deduct/100 comp. My 65 is actually CHEAPER than both my MDX and my wife's Escape. No tickets/accidents I guess helps.

Mines about 1k/yr. for full cover. Also I reduce that to storage cover for the winter and get a couple hundred back. I'm over 70 with a good record.

The article noted that the average premium for a CL65 was $5,867... human nature being what it is, those paying more than that probably will never post here lol, but damn.

What the article doesn't say is if its based on new cars insured. I would think premiums on 2012-2013 cars rolling off the lot with a $200k sticker price have to be higher based on their actual value. I'm guessing the CL65 is driven more miles than any other luxury coupe of equal value making it more risk or exposed. Just look at Driveability..... He's not alone you do see 100k CL65 from time to time I doubt there are many Bentley Continentals or DB9s running around like that. (just naming other V12s).

Anyway as mentioned, it is the cost of ownership like it or leave it. At 36 I'm paying $1500/yr for the CL65. I have 250k/500k with 2 additional cars, home married and clean record.

^^ Agreed. They were probably talking about W216 new. I wonder if we have any Oregon owners here?

I paid $539 for my 2005 CL55 in 2012 (whole year) with 100/300 $1K deductible. To be fair, that price was a discount with 3 other cars, a house, and a clean record.

Oregon here, not a CL65 owner though. I wonder why we have higher rates. I think we have great roads and good drivers. The weather isn't severe but of course there is a lot of rain driving in the Valley where most of the population is. With good rain tires and good driving I don't see that as an issue.

You know, scrolling this thread I think I pay the most of all posters, and I don't even have a blown CL55 (!)

Wow. No wonder you're guys insurance is so cheap. 99% of you don't have a million dollars coverage. Up here a million is the min. Some have two million +.

Many of us who have assets get a $1 million umbrella to protect above and beyond. Sadly nothing close is required here. Someone could wipe out you and your family where hospital bills alone could easily exceed the minimum required by law.

We pay somewhere around $1200 per year. Part of the reason is that the insurance company doesn't have the CL65 model in its computer modeling software thus rates are based on CL55.
