Secondary Air Injection Smog Pump
My pump has gone bad and I'm looking to replace both the pump and the relay to make sure everything is correct.
This is for a 2003 CL 55 AMG
I took out the pump and model number read: 0580000018
Costing $410
I kept looking on the web and it's also known as this number: A0001404285
When I looked for the pump it was also known as: 0580000023

My question is are 0580000018 and 0580000023 the same?
In the picture they look the same, with the same holes for the screws and mounting bracket. I'm looking for a cheaper solution that is the MB equivalent.

Call Potomac German Auto Parts here in Maryland. Or the one in Georgia. They can supply you with a recycle one for about $100.00. Get a new relay from the dealer, put them in and you are good to go. I've done this twice. J

SL55_Forever, I don't know. My indy checked it today and I didn't ask. What I do know is that the O2 sensors weren't dropping down to the specified voltage within the required time. They got close but not all the way down. I hope this helps.

Air Pump Job on a CL55
I have done this job twice. It is not hard at all, you just have a lot of stuff to remove. The lower cover, the bumper cover and the inner fender liner or "pork chop" as it is known. Then you can see the Air Pump to replace it. Just a few fasteners and 1 or 2 hoses. I don't remember. See my post above about getting it from Potomac German Auto Parts. They are great!

Thanks a lot for that, man! I'm hoping it is not the pump itself and just a relay. Just wanted to know what all was involved as a "worst case scenario". Front struts come first as they have gone. Not afraid of doing that job myself since struts are fairly straight forward. It's the hydraulic bleeding afterwards. Can't seem to find an answer on how to do that.
