Total Loss
With less than a year of ownership my CL55 was totaled.
Simple rear end shunt into rear of car that hit the back quarter. looked light but it crumpled the structure in the rear quarter...
Kind of bitter sweet, one of the nicest cars I have ever had and was a real head turner but I was getting worried about the expense to run as she was now out of warranty and had about 10k worth of work in the last year already.
Anyway, the car came with a fitted bass box in the trunk. It was custom made to fit the car and pushed right back into to rear of the trunk. I also have the amp that ran it that you can see in one of the pics above.
If anyone is interested in the amp and woofer/box- shoot me a PM.

sorry, man that's scary. doesn't look like much damage at all! these cars must be really fragile. how fast were you and the other vehicle going when you got hit? can't they straighten the structure?

I was stationary, pick up truck was prob doing about 15 mph.
His insurance co, offered me 16k. I pushed back big time and waiting on their next offer, they appointed an independent specialist to review it.

Something similar happened to me 4 years ago. I ended up in an accident, car hit passenger side of my CL500. I drove the car for days before I brought it to the body shop.
There was no way I would ever imagine that they would total the car but the insurance company upon reviewing the repair estimate did.
Anyway at that time I got little more $ than was a fair market price of the same year, milage and similarly equipped car listed for sale on Autotrader in my zip code area.
I waited for a month and ended up buying CL55. It's difficult to part with CL coupe despite all the costs we have to pay to keep them running.
Good luck !

Wow, I know how you feel man. My CL got rear ended about a year ago but it wasn't a total lost. The damage didn't look bad ether but the body shop repaired it and the bill was 12k. Hope you get everything situated.

Sorry for your loss. Its sad to see it doesn't take much to take a CL out. Its crazy to think as time goes on it will only take less and less. It makes me wonder how many will be left in only another 10 yrs.

Yep, it was pushed in right in the rear quarter so why on face value it looked light you could see it affected the rear and the quarter and the internal frame. the car held up great but the internal damage and the fact that there was aluminum involved = total loss.
On a positive note and a good learning for others. they lowballed me on the first offer, wasn't even KBB for the car.
I went back with a very detailed list of what my car was worth more, I linked to cars I saw as comparable on autotrader.com some with lower miles, some the same and gave an average. I pointed out that Seattle was the 2nd most expensive state to buy a used car and that this car was rare and I couldn't even buy another within 500 miles of me.
The insurance co appointed an independent pro to value the car and I spoke to him direct and gave him all the details of the custom work done.
today they called me and offered me what I paid for the car a year ago + taxes, title fees etc.
All in all worked out great I guess and no way I would of ever got that money selling myself.
Really fancy an E55 Wagon now, if you know of one for sale let me know

I'm glad no one was hurt.
What will become of your interior trim pieces? do you have them? can
I buy them?
I assume they went with the car, but I though I'd ask.
Thank you
