AMG Key
I am going to pick up a replacement key and i was wondering if anyone knows whether or not it's possible to get the Key FOB with the AMG logo on the back like the new GL63 has?

I know if i pick up a new key it will be the newer style with the chrome surround but i was hoping i could get the one with the AMG crest on it

you will receive the chrome surround key.
i have never seen the gl63 key and i am not sure it can be ordered yet.
your friendly dealer might have some other ideas though so ... do check.

I believe they only work on 2010+ models: https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...-keys-e55.html

So i called and asked 3 dealers (Beverly Hills, Newport Beach and Santa Monica) and all of them told me you can't buy the AMG branded key unless it came with your car originally...
Anyone know anything else about this?

So i found the part number and found out you can buy these from the dealer
My dealer in Beverly Hills quoted me $170, in stock, and it only fits the newest style key fob so if you have the older style key fob you would need to buy a new key (retail around $290) and then buy these covers and put them on
You will need to give them the part number - A 000 890 00 23
Hope this helps anyone looking for this

new key
Saw this thread, have my CL65 in the shop for the instrument cluster replacement and knew I needed a replacement key...they told me it will be a newer key (not the old black style that came with the car), AND it will cost $430 due to the keyless go........dang....430 for a KEY.......it better look sweet

were you having problems with your instrument cluster and what were they? i inquired about the re-call with my dealer and they said that the re-call was only if the instrument cluster was faulty and threw a code. interesting to hear your experience.

Well, I was driving the car a few weeks ago (before a vacation trip) and all the sudden all the instruments went out, the dash was blank. The coolant temp/gas all stated at the same level. Speedometer was stuck at 60 and RPM gauge frozen also (even with at a complete stop). Can't tell if your turn signals are on when you hit the knob or not. No mileage readable. Basically totally dead. I did a search and found it was part of a campaign where they cover it for 10 years. Mine is good through 1/15 so they just replaced it. I am about to go pick the car up now....it's been in the shop since yesterday morning. It's not a definite safety hazard (at least during the day) but you can't read your speed so you have to guess based on other traffic and if your car is giving out any codes or anything I guess you can't see the malfunctions either.

I spoke too soon guys....when I went to pick up my new key, I was told that it is still the old black style......AND, was still 430 because of the keyless go.....
note to self--don't lend out a key to a friend and let them "mail" it back to you
