Extended Warranty Advice
I've noticed a few threads about warranties. I have always purchased my extended warranty plans from USAA. The contract is underwritten and administered through Assurant.
The plan covers our cars from bumper to bumper, only excludes common sense wear and tear items ( brake pads, battery, belt, ect. ). It is extremely reasonable at an average of $3,000 for 2 years or 25k miles, whichever is first. The service is excellent.
I bought the plan on my 06 cl65 as an example. After one and a half years, USAA has paid out $23,000. Air and vacuum pump, ABS pump, radiator, rear suspension valve, ignition coils, eic module, both turbos, all motor mounts, drive line and flex plate, rear engine seal, front abs struts, head unit, front calipers, engine manifold galley plate ... And more.
All paid with no delay, no questions asked. This is one time I appreciated a very thorough dealer, responsive warranty contract. It's a low mile CL65 with typical expensive upkeep.

They have an age limit for what cars they insure. I believe it to be 7 years, maybe six. Mine was 6 when purchased. I may have tainted their taste for CL65's .. The perfume of the premium fell way short compared to the stench of the risk.
