Putting my CL65 on the dyno

Going to put it on the rollers Oct 12 to get some baseline #'s. My only local drag strip was already closed for winter by the time I got the car so no baseline track #'s. Car is not going to be stock when the track reopens in spring. Any guesses what the stock 2005 CL65 will put down with 43,000 miles on it? Closest guess wins one internet honor.

My butt dyno says it will make about 510/630.

This sure will be a good comparison to my CL600 with a few mods. I will dyno my car as well in few coming weeks just waiting for the weather to cool down a bit out here. No 1/4 mile runs yet but hoping for Bigger ICs from Speedriven and also some Turbo work by start of next season.

Have any pics of your Speedriven intercooler upgrades? I am planning to do some with my car but have not started ordering parts yet.

Actually more interested in the Heat exchanger and remote tank setup that the intercoolers. I've seen pics of those.

It has been a few years since we dynoed stock 65`s but seemed like they were int he 475 RWHP. Should be plenty stock dyno post to search from the past.

What are the IAT's with the hood closed before and after the intercoolers under max boost?

Sppedriven1:

Exoticmetal:

Seems like a pretty big drivetrain loss if they only make 475 at the tire, was that a Dynojet or Mustang Dyno?

I never got to race my Lightning with the CL like I planned to before the guy bought my truck. The CL feels faster that the L on it's pump gas winter tune which dyno's 547/571 RWHP/TQ (Dynojet STD) and runs 11.9. The L would have killed the CL on my summer tune which I never dynod but it ran 11.2 on that setup.

One other question, what gear is 1:1 in the trans, kind of need to know what gear to dyno the car in.

you are not going to make over 500hp... or over 600tq

unless you fudge the dyno input numbers/ corrections

No reason to do that, this is just a baseline before the modding begins. One thing to consider is it is fall here, daytime temps are in the high 30's to low 40's and could easily be a lot colder by next weekend so it will be easy to have a cold air charge, for at least the first pull.

Already ordered a CM-30, 4 gallon I/C tank, K&N filters, Line Lock, ECU/TCU tune, STAR (thanks Shardul) & getting ready to order a LSD. Also some basic maintainace stuff like ABC, fuel & oil filters are alredy done, ordered a second key, new trunk struts....

Still have not decided what H/E I am going to order or weather I will remove the cats, mufflers, or neither. Also do not know what I am going to do for drag radials/wheels for the track yet. Always willing to listen to those of you with experience on what way to go with any of these future mods I have listed. I am a very good, meticulous mechanic but this is a whole new animal for me since it is my first German car, always played with American stuff before. This is definately different, LOL.

A set of Speedriven intercoolers & intake would be nice but the price has put them at the bottom of my mod list since I can do almost all of this other stuff for the price of the intercoolers. Maybe next year.

Keep in mind that the kit will be cheaper for you, since you have ecu/tcu tune and pump

I wouldn't use the CM-30. It flow less than the Bosch pump any way you look at it. See below.

Let me rephrase the question to Speedriven. With your intake, what is the differential of the IAT with the hood closed compared to ambiant temps. With the same scenario, what is the temperature differential pre and post intercooler under boost. In other words, how many degrees does it cool the temps from ambiant compared to under hood IAT's?
