This does nothing for me, you have a 285 tire with an 11" wide thread pad on a 12.5" wheel? Its like a sickness where people don't know where to stop. I guess as long as it will hold air and not break the bead it is cool to one up the next guy? Some people are taking a car with some sporty lines and turning it totally ricer. I guess everyone is different. For a heavy long wheel based car, the CL has a decent ride with relatively well cornering ability for its size. I'm sure the 4600lbs on a bologna skin tire is useless. However, the fan boys who will never drive one and only think the look is cool will never know. I would think as an owner, if you go this route, you will have more fail than fun. Wheels, tires and ABC will not do well, again just my opinion.

Tell me why I knew someone would point that out out in this post, lol ^^^^ Anyway, thanks chinchin. Btw I like the way that car looks and I understand your guys point on the tires but Ive been driving around with a 235/35/19 on a 10.5 rim for over a year now with no problems. My car is a daily and I have absolutely no problems, even taking corners. You guys will never understand.. but then again, everyone has their own opinions.

the car sold on E-Bay but the buyer did not have his finances ready and could not finance the car for some reason so going back and forth I just decided to keep the car for now and maybe go crazy on it over the Winter

Well being that its only a "CL500" im sure race and cornering is not too big of a concern for him, also this method has been done in Germany for the past 30 years or so, and in America people that know nothing about this just call it "RICER LOOK" the whole point of running a smaller tire is due to the fact that running a "proper" 335 tire on a 12.5" wheel would be impossible to fit under those "tiny" CL quarter panels. Long story short the guy's goal was to run the widest possible wheel without doing body work.
BTW a 285 on a 12.5" is not even that much of a stretch I had a 265 tire on a 12" wheel on my old CL500

Also came from the VIP scene with my old ls460, but my goal with my 65 is maximum traction vs flush fitment. Although, like said if it was a 500, I'm sure there is probably no spirited driving going on in the daily basis. The w215 is not really a car you would take to a track day either, but straight line is where its at with these cars. That's why I have a little e36 to whip around corners! In the end its to each his own.
