Just bought a Eurocharged stage 2 kit. Any tips or tricks for smoothest install???

Hi,

I just bought the stage 2 eurocharged kit for my 2003 CL55 amg. I am going to take it to my local mechanic to install the headers. I want to try installing the supercharger pulley, heat exchanger, inter cooler pump myself.

When I take it to the mechanic for the Kleeman headers installation, I wouldn't mind letting him know any tips and tricks to make the install go smoother so I don't spend the whole day watching him f*** around with my car.

Also, if anyone has tips or "learned lessons" from the supercharger pulley, heat exchanger, and intercooler pump (latest Bosch unit) installs \ upgrades , please let me know.

By the way, I didnt order a crank pulley, just the supercharger pulley that takes the boost to around 13 psi.

Another question, Is it easier to change the engine mounts on these cars if you have the headers off anyways?

Just trying to minimize downtime and frustration during these upgrades.

Thanks

change the mounts when the headers are off. it will take about 15 mins to do both of them.

i would do all the cooling at once then flush it. did my pump now doing H/E. kinda wish i had both at sometime...plus when installing H/E you MUST take bumper off.

OK I will be doing the motor mounts / trans mount together with the headers then.

I will do cooling mods all at once too.

Would you guys consider the belt wrap a "must have" with the smaller supercharger pulley?

I'm considering putting a electric exhaust cut out before the mufflers as well. What's the size of the exhaust pipes on the 55k cl's ?

I haven't installed the kit yet, its still sitting in the living room.

I think it is supposed to add 60-70 wheel HP and like 80 lb/ft of torque to the wheels???

I will report back on results after the install...

Al that for $3000 huh? With a deal like that idk if I could pass that up. I've been looking into Kleemans K2 kit recently as well a this eurocharged kit. The eurocharged one seems to have better value. But how's the quality of the kit?

The Sc pulley is easy to install. Just un-bolt the two bottom engine mount bolts, jack engine up a few inches and use a impact to remove old SC pulley. You may also want to add a belt wrap kit, colder T stat and change your 5 idler pulley`s out to performance idlers.

Here is a pic of my CL55 engine with smaller sc, 5 idler set up, belt wrap kit and lower crank pulley.

Technically I didnt buy the complete "stage 2 " EC kit. I bought the Kleeman Headers, Supercharger pulley, Heat exchanger, and ecu/tcu tune from Eurocharged.

Ordered the latest generation 010 Bosch intercooler pump from RMEuropean.com along with my motor/trans mounts and a few other preventative maintenence items.

Didnt want to mess with the cm30 johnson pump since it requires minor wiring work. I wanted to stay "plug and play" for the intercooler pump.

I got everything, EuroCharged items + RMeuropean items ( engine/tranny mounts, intercooler pump, fuel filter, SC belt, Windshield wipers ) for about $3k canadian.

So I cant just remove the old supercharger pulley without lifting the engine?

Also, the new smaller super charger pulley came with 3 very thin, flat metal rings. What are these for and where are they placed during install?

the 3 flat rings are called shims. they are used to space the sc pulley. the clearance should be .35mm to .65mm

Does the original pulley have these shims as well? How many are typically installed with the new after market pulley, all three of the provided shims?

I had to lift the engine on my CL to cleanly change the Sc pullley. It is real easy to lift. first remove belly pan, remove both lower engine mount bolts under car, then use a block of wood on the oil pan and lift engine up a couple inches. Your stock SC pulley will have shims on it already but the extra shims may be needed or maybe not, as you need to se the gap to spec on the clutch.

Thanks for the help so far everyone.

I tried searching on how to remove the cl55's front bumper but could not find anything specific to the w215. Can some tell me how? Or provide a link for instructions?

It's easy

Lift up front end
Remove inner wheel-well coverings
Look inside the area where the bumper meets the fender from the wheel-well area you will see a torx or a 8mm bolt there. Remove these 1 from each side
Open hood and you need to remove 4 bolts on top of the bumper
2 nuts behind the lower grille
Pull the pumper from the front, disconnect wiring.

Thanks for this, I wont have to do as much guess work when I begin. Its been snowing a lot here in Calgary but I am hoping to start on the upgrades this weekend. I am using a buddies hoist so it should make accessing the under side much easier.

I made sure to get the OEM engine and transmission mounts, didnt want to put aftermarket ones in and then repeat labour prematurely as AndreNY indicated.

If I install the smaller supercharger pulley on my car, Can I drive the car around safely without getting the ecu tuned right away?

Reason I ask is because I wont have the headers on the car this weekend, So I wanted to wait for eurocharged to tune the ECU after I put them on.

if you keep it under 3000 RPM and don't beat on it you wont have any issues at all driving it like that

So I got the car on the hoist. Before the upgrades began:

I thought I had to replace the voltage regulator because I was getting a battery charge warning on the dash.I couldn't get the regulator off because of one of the Phillips screws ended up getting stripped. So decided to take the alternator out and get it rebuilt since the alternator didn't seem like it was in too great of shape. Removing the alternator wasn't too bad but you have to remove the cooling fan to get it out. While I was underneath the car I noticed a couple of leaks, and it smelt a little like hydraulic fluid and it looks like ABC hydraulic lines that are leaking and sweating near the ABC pump.

This picture is of one of the leaks near the front left (drivers) side suspension. Seems to be leaking near where those 3 line are held together. Any ideas?
