Car at Speedriven :) More mods for the season

I believe it's around 1,800-1,900 where I felt it slipping last time.
I thought you upgraded your rear brakes also. If so, you must be spacing those 16's out to clear them. If that's the case, I hope your car doesn't squat and cut a tire.
By the way, what track are you running at?

Everyone has there own opinion on tires, but I was able to get my times on 265/40/18 MTs. (in cooler weather.) With a good burnout and launching much more than 1800-1900 rpms, closer to 2600-2700 rpms, it was more hit or miss based on the open diff.
I'm more stumped by the fact that Kamil pulls a nice 99 mph in the 1/8 and only gains 23 mph in the back half. Considering all your mods, you seem to be trapping tune only speeds. I would get things sorted before you go for upgraded turbos, so its not one more thing to balance in the equation. You have a strong 1/8th now lets see you carry that to the end, Good luck!

Edit: Kamil's 23 mph on back half is def low & should be gaining 25-27+ mph at the very least given his mod list.. Def think it's the timing being pulled etc...

Interesting topic, my guess is hot July ambient air coupled to already broiling v12tt's is pulling a lot of timing on his un optimized box tune. After he gets Dyno Tuned, I bet this gets sorted.. (I had massive ecu throttle cutting/timing pulled etc after adding Down Pipes & not re dyno tuning for them)
Its funny you mention the down pipes, that exactly how I felt with the stock airboxes in place. That was the reason for my dyno last week, but when the car got some air it came alive and fuel was spot on. Even the boys from Eurocharged were impressed with how their dyno tested box tune responded.

I believe that I'm also not gonna move like the 65 guys. The 65 guys will always be faster since you guys make more power than me right out of the box. The record stock turbo 600 if Im not mistaken ran 10.96 in the 1/4. That car was 1mph faster than me in the 1/4 yet 1 mph slower in the 1/8. His 60ft however was way under mine.
I will squeeze the car as much as I can. Marcin will tune the car again sometime next week hopefully and we will get this sorted out. This car has to go 10s before the turbos go on because that was my goal to begin with, and seeing the 60ft and trap I know I'm not extremely far away from getting that run.
I'm going back out to the track tomorrow, this time to work on my 60ft before the car is tuned more. I will try to get in the 1.6x range and see what time I can crack. Tomorrow 9AM I will be up at the track, can't wait to start launching from 1500+ RPM. My 11.3 run was off idle.
Any ideas or suggestions on cooling the car in between runs? I am bringing ice with me to cool the system down between runs, but car gets pretty hot and takes forever to cool back down especially in these weather conditions.

An extension cord and a couple of box fans works great for me.

I use two fans as well, a box fan on top of the motor and one high power circular fan in front blowing on the car. I remove the engine cover and my intercooler pump is rewired so I can have it running all the time even with the car off. I keep a charger on the battery to keep it topped off even with the pump running as well. I always park the car so the front is in the shade from my 5th wheel awning or a pop up sunshade I take to the track as well. I can cool my car off in less than 45 minutes this way but ambient temps are usually below 80* on the worst (hottest) weekends here. No power poles at our track, have to bring your own generator.

To cool the car first don't shut it off right away, try to do some 30 mph driving around the track with the heat on high to pull some of the heat out of the engine and to allow you heat exchange to take some heat out. I like Grips setup with the fan but I always took a more Amish approach. I would get heavy duty construction garbage bags and double bag some ice to sit on top of the intercoolers. They are thick and less likely to leak. Launch the car at 2k plus you'll see a 1.6x then get brave from there and up the revs. You car should have another 2 mph the way it is. Remember benzs-o-ram doesn't have the 600 record but did trap 126 mph with ONLY ECU/TCU. No trunk tank, downpipes, intercoolers or anything else. I realize it was much better conditions then you will see, but 124 mph should not be out of the question, although your 1/8th may also drop a bit with a much harder launch... Good luck today.

Hey Guys so back from the track again this time the DA was 2064 and it was 70% humidity with 72F. It was not the right conditions but the track was sticky and I got a chance to get my 60s working and figure out how to launch this thing. Here are all my slips from today the best run of the day was the last one I did around 12:30 which was even hotter than before. There is def something off in 3rd gear since I'm loosing a lot there.
I did 3 runs and here is all 3 of them

Those slips have me scratching my head. Our 60' was very close. Your making more power, as your 1/8 trap speed is 3 MPH faster. However, your ET for the 1/8 was only .01 faster.
Then your 1/4 trap is only .8 MPH faster, and our ET's are the same.
I suspect your transmission might be slipping. When you installed the TCU, did they connect DAS and reset the adaptives?
My run
11.30 @ 121.56
1.67 60'
7.27 ET
97.5 MPH
Your Run
11.30 @ 122.34
1.66 60'
7.28 ET
100.4 MPH

Either that or you're running lean up top or the car is killing timing due to high IAT's. Did you datalog the run?
Either way, something is going on. Your 100 MPH 1/8 mile should have resulted in a 1/4 mile trap of 124 if all was well IMHO.

Do you think the car is getting heat soaked? I could be forcing too much hot air and the ECU will retard the timing and I will loose HP. I did run the scorpions but removed front 2 filters today and took off my grille.

Thats what I have to do. Marcin will tune the car for me hopefully next week. I will try to log as much info as I can and see what the hell is going on. I know how to move out of the hole already and now just waiting to resolve this issue.

Nice! Those CLK wheels work just as advertised knocked off 1/10 in 60' and added 1 mph in the 1/8.. Def think your tune not being optimized for all these new mods is most of your prob.. Tho as power increases on these rigs all the rwtq on the non upgraded 600 trans & it will start to slip (mine has been intermittent for over a year)
+2000' DA is the rest of the story as you already know, reverse this to Clay's record pass in -1000' DA & you could equal his basement 11.02 or better it to that holy grail 10.9x good luck man!
Here's Clayton's 11.02 @126
1/4 Mile ET:11.02
1/4 Mile MPH:126.010
1/8 Mile ET:7.120
1/8 Mile MPH:100.0800
-60 Foot ET:1.660
Temperature F:48.0 Density Altitude-995
Vs your 100+ mph 1/8 trap run
1.66
7.289
100.43mph
Your 60' equaled Clay's but your 1/8 mph trap was actually faster than his record pass, the 7.289 ET is slower by 0.169 though. Grip's def onto something as your Trans must be slipping a tad all the way through 2nd & 3rd or and timing issue.. If all things were equal DA etc your run above I've noted could've been 10.99 if issues we've cited were fixed in +2000' DA no less.. Your rigs running strong

Hey looks like you are making progress on your end as the pilot, but maybe try getting a dyno to see what's happening in the upper RPMs. I'm not ruling out the tranny but I think you'd feel it or see the tac jumping as if you are spinning when you are not. How many miles on your beast?
I'm thinking the entire back 1/8th is 3rd gear probably 4,000 rpms and up. That's what I'd be looking at on the dyno. Were you running your meth? If so you shouldn't be suffering from heat soak that much. As mentioned before, the dashdaq is going to tell you much more.

Yes I did that on 18s, guessing because of the good 60ft and finally driving the car right helped a lot. I will be focusing on getting the tune tweaked, if I get lucky Ill get the 16s together and slap them on for next track day, who knows maybe even shave some weight as well.

If I'm not mistaken this is the 600 that holds the stock turbo 600 record. Comparing that slip to mine is very confusing since Im going faster in the 1/8th with a worst 60 meaning I have to be making more power than that car.

I am trying to run better than that time, and don't want to do it once but wanna do it back to back.
