That's my race setup back when it was on the Crossfire. It bolted right up to the CL, offsets were good and everything.

I installed the AMG decals this evening and that seemed to have made them much more appealing to me. My wife even doesn't mind riding in it now. Thanks for all the good advice and honest opinions, but I think I'm going to keep the orange for a while. And did Steve really say to go with White??? WTH??

The finished product looks really good!!! It looks closer to red with different lighting and decals. A big difference from the garage pics, I'll have to retract some of my initial criticism. Now go put on those go fast parts this weekend!!!

Thanks guys. The color is much more accurate with the SLR camera I used last night versus the earlier cell phone shots. They really do look "night and day" different in person after the decals were added, but I'm sure they are still a little too flashy for most. Now I need to hit the drag strip and see how much time they'll trim off my ET.

Uhh, no. I think I'll stick with silver. Neighbors already think I'm weird taking off tires to make washing my calipers easer as it is. If they were white I'd have to do it even more often!

I'm liking the look MUCH better with the letters (the better camera doesn't hurt, either).
Thinking it might really tie some things together if you did a bit of the orange underhood? I know you'll keep it tasteful, and not simply put 100' of orange wire loom in the bay.
Maybe even some flo-orange BIP logos on the intake cover? Something as simple as that... Valve covers would look t!ts, but I know you'd have to remove a LOT of components to make that magic happen.
Either way, looks much better now brother. I like

I've already ordered the loom. I just have to get a fireproof photo to place in the engine compartment, so the car doesn't get lonely.

Thanks. If I ever upgrade the intercoolers or add two more I might paint them, but I doubt I'll ever touch the valve covers unless they start leaking. There's just so much work to remove them I'd really have to me be motivated. That's definitely a winter project.

Seems like it flows well with the rear tail lights. I say if you like it keep it, its your car. Ever think about matching your car color on the calipers? I wonder how that would look.
PS how bout lowering links? you gonna do those?

I've been custom airbrushing/motorcycle tanks-helmets/surf/sail/skim boards/boats etc etc for 25+ yrs & just saw this thread.. All you needed is what your wife & others suggested, any contrasting NEUTRAL colored decals to breakup the bright orange.. Looks great now! Nice job...

After repairing the wiring for the driver's side speakers today, I decided to paint the passenger side calipers. Here's a few shots of the fun. After the paint cures I'll apply the AMG decals. Photos were taken with my cell phone, so they will appear to glow in the dark.
