I've never been inside or driven a CLA45, but I'm 100% confident that the two cars are completely different across the board.

While I haven't driven in a CLA, the reviews indicate it is a spirited little car. The CL63 6.2 N/A is one of the biggest/heaviest in the AMG lineup. I wouldn't call it sluggish, but it's not exactly mind blowing either (even with LT headers & tune). It's a BIG, heavy coupe.

While I'm sure the overall feel & quality of the interior is light years beyond the CLA, you're also looking at "cutting edge technology"..... from 2007 in the CL. The CLA will have vastly improved electronics.

I love my CL, but it fills a very different role than my E55 did.

2008 models had the NTG 3 Navigation system, but the 2009 models were fitted with the newer NTG 3.5 system from around the middle of 2009 onwards - which allowed the provision of the front seat entertainment system (Split view) and DAB radio (Europe). Other than that, same engine, same gearbox, ... until late 2010 of course when it was facelifted with new front LED daytime running lamps, which is also when the 6.2 engine was replaced with the newer 5.5 biturbo and had AMG's new MCT gearbox.

Nothing beyond what I posted above. I haven't paid any attention to CLA45 prices, so I really don't know. I suppose I could check ebay, autotrader, etc & see what prices are, but that's no more than you have probably done yourself.

There is no difference between a 08 and 09 CL63. Trade in the CLA45 and I can assure you that you wont look back. The CLA is a awful car. The CL is the best of the best.

thx for replies. hopefully i can work out the deal but i'm not giving more than my 45 and the 3k. i would still need to add 4k after the deal for a solid extended warranty like fidelity.

well sorry to report the deal didn't pan out and i've decided to keep the CLA45 for awhile longer. the cla isn't nearly as refined as the 63 but it's definitely quicker off the line and with a tune it'll be a monster 4 banger....lol
seeing sub 4.0 sec 0-60 results.

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
No offense....

But although it may be fun, the CLA is not a Mercedes, even in AMG trim...maybe you'll find another another trade that will work.

no offense taken
but incorrect--- still hand built motor and it's faster than the CL63
it's just too small and not nearly as refined or as classy as the CL63 but still a BENZ and AMG car

Was in your shoes last year. Was torn between the S63 2010 and the CLA45. went with the S63, the CLA just felt cramped and cheap. Yes it was fast but I love the heavy car feel. Plus the depreciation is terrifying on the CLA
