center support for driveshaft
2004 cl600 driveshaft center support bearing seized. apparently part is not available in the u.s. and has to be shipped from germany, yet i see all kinds of center support bearings available on line for $40-$80 that say they fit a 2004 cl600. the support and bearing from germany are $200. are the internet supports incorrectly listed? apparently no dealer, or mercedes supplier in the u.s. has one available.

just a follow up. got the mercedes part had to come from germany 4 days cost was $160 + $32 for the grooved ball. evidently the rubber deteriorated in the support and the driveshaft was hitting the heat shield when spinning. probably the same parts i could of gotten on the internet for $90, but not 100% sure so i went with the sure thing.

I feel like this just happened to me this week. Although I think it may be a trans mount as well. When I give the car gas. The shifter will jolt back and forth in the gate. It hasn't come out of gear or anything but it's noticeable.
Debating on claiming it under warranty yet or not. Regardless at some speeds it has an ugly catch like sound as well. Almost like the trans has fallen out of the car (honestly scares the **** out of me) but maybe it could be a similar event as to what you are experiencing. Driveshaft catching the heat shielding.

symptoms are very subtle. if someone stands outside the car and you drive it they can hear a vibration sort of bum, bum, bum, but very low. the rubber mount in the drive shaft support that holds the bearing had a weak spot which caused the drive shaft to vibrate and hit slightly rub against the heat shield. if your shifter is bolting back and forth this isn't your problem. probably the tranny and maybe engine mounts. good luck. if you have a warranty get it fixed!

I left my car in D with the brake on and tried to see if the engine bucked. Not too much, but would still like to get it on a lift. This happened Monday when I got on it around a corner. May end up dropping it off at the dealership on Monday and grabbing a rental but we will see. Thanks for the input guys.
