Strange Engine Issue - Video here (CL63)

Hi guys,

I have been experiencing this strange noise issue for about a year now, sometimes it happens few times a day, sometimes once a week. Mostly happens during a cold engine start after a night in garage, but on a few occasions it happened during a day as well.

I have taken my car to the dealership, they have replaced all the pulleys including the belt, also the ABC Pump I have is new (replaced last summer). They don't really know where it is coming from.

The noise decreases with increasing revs.

Anyone any idea? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All right, so in case, anyone is experiencing the same problem, here is what I found out. This video shows C63 AMG with the same issue and the reason is this: Camshaft adjuster/valve lifters need to be replaced. Always on the left bank (drivers side) for some reason.

Anyways, what's IMPORTANT:
If the noise goes away in first 5 minutes of driving/idle, we are okay. If it stays, than there is problem.

Noise is same on mine, as well as same like here:

BMW E31 Dinan Stage 3 TT 625Hp on 93 pump............. 00 BMW E38 750iL.....03 S55 Alabaster white
Run some seafoam in the oil for about 10-15 mins then change the oil/filter. I had a sticky lifter that was noisy as hell and I was crapping myself......seafoam cured it in 10 mins....

I have had this issue twice, first with a 2007 E63 and now with my 2009 CL63. This is a 63 engine issue. My Cl is is the shop and requires lifter and cam replacement. This is a MB known issue and you better hope that you are under warranty or have an aftermarket warranty as the estimated cost for this repair is close to $16k.

never own an amg out of warranty unless you're totally fine with throwing your cash away

From what I have been told, this issue is a serious problem only if the noise prevails after first 5 minutes of driving?!

Failed lifter and cam. Take the valve cover off and see for yourself.
