Drag tires.
I keep getting so much conflicting data on what fits the W216 and what does not that I gave up and am just gonna run the factory 20" wheels and get some drag tires on a spare pair. I know I will have to keep the car in the high setting for them to fit but in 20" the drag radials are P315/35R20 and since that's SO much taller than stock how do I keep the factory ESP system from freaking out? I don't want to run in full dyno mode at the drag strip for obvious reasons.
OR does anyone have a suggestion for any other Merc wheels that are like 18" so I can get a larger sidewall tire that would match the original 20" tire height so the system don't freak out?
I am a sponsor of this small tire shootout next month and was just told that we HAVE TO HAVE drag radials or caant run. Im like "But I am sponsoring this crap!" Don't car, have to have radials cause street tires will mess up the track.
Damnit! So I have two weeks to get tires and wheels. Please please please help.

I run these http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/s...tem=ETStreetSS on my W215. About the best hooking drag radial you are going to find that will fit your CL. I do a good burnout (see video in sig) and get 1.61-1.59 60' times consistently on a prepped track. I have a set of 18" wheels that match m street wheels so it's not obvious I even swap out at the track. From the stands it looks like I'm on street tires. I ALWAYS race in dyno mode at the track. I run the 285/40-18's.
FWIW, first pass in the video was a no prep day and I was on 90 octane pump gas + a can of Torco. No weight reduction, just drove to the track, bolted on drag radials and ran. Other passes are on MS109 and my usual track prep stuff.

I have FAR to many wheels and tires lying around for the health of my marriage, and I did a lot of tests and trials with wheels and tires here:

I really wouldn't change the rolling radius from stock. Its not just a matter of balancing front and rear. Wide tires are fine, but its the absolute radius that matters as well.
Are you any closer to getting your car back?
