slightly underwhelmed with CL65 w216...help

Yep. True enough in 2012 they came out with a 7 speed updated speedshift version, but it didn't show in the CL. Torque load was always an issue in the non-updated versions; I was talking to my AMG tech about a blower for my M156 and he said sure, but better beef up tranny as it would have a handful with the torque. Weistec and EC noted as much as well when I spoke to them about it.

Ok then maybe the 15+ got those. The engine designation changed to M279 and it got another revised ECU, I guess the one on your cars is just a mid cycle change. I know the LCI 216 has some other neat features. I never keep track of what year changes what on the newer cars, it's always different and there's no logical reasons for a lot of it.
From a quick look, the SL got in in 2012, but the S/CL/S coupe didn't until 14-15.

I did say software. By saying the computer was more complex in an earlier statement I was referring to software and enhanced that by adding the Windows 10 vs XP analogy.
That being said I would imagine there is a faster chipset in there as well.

They are definitely faster, the diagnostic systems work much quicker on the newer cars than the older ones, but a quantifiable difference I couldn't state.
I could look up M/E ID and software info, but actual differences aren't really shared outside of deep dark German engineering dungeons where they keep the programmers.

before i do anything i am checking the pump. i have the pump SD sold me anyway so i have to either figure out if this one will fit or buy something else. i think its Bosch. i have to go find it.
on a side note, how do you like the killer chiller? i have considered that as well. do you like it?

I'm thinking of putting one in my e63 now that I have a tune, intake and exhaust. The e63 doesn't have the cooling issues that the CL65 has though. But since I have one sitting around I might try it.

I have an extra ecu from my 08 cl65 and its the same part number as in my current 2012 2759000700. So I'm pretty positive there are not or could be any internal chipset hardware differences. Sure the software might be written different but still the same ecu internally/externally.

I live in Dallas, TX so the killer chiller is a "must". During the summer my intake temps run so high that I'm always under powered. With the killer chiller my intake temps are at or a little above ambient. I think they would be lower if I had a 'trunk tank' but I didn't want to give up the trunk space.

Well then you should be very familiar with how Mercedes does things then. There numbers go thru supersessesions. If a Mercedes component has identical part numbers in the same part. The numbers sub up all the time on Mercedes s revised parts no matter what components they are. So same part # with Mercedes is the same part. Software versions are designated and can be different even with the same part number components. But not the hardware. I own no 5 star shop and don't do this for living, but do Mercedes very well from owning / working on there cars.

Now honestly I do not do much Euro work which is why I sent my car out. We do Corvettes, Camaros, Mustangs, Challengers and so so so many trucks (it is Texas lol) so I am not 100% familiar with all the ins and outs of MB cars. I do know that when my NAG1 was done I was told it had the same part number as earlier versions yet the clutch pack design inside was different as were some bearings and snap rings.
So yeah, the ECU may be identical just with different software. It may have a faster PROM or there just may be more sub systems in the vehicle to handle the computations of other control systems in the vehicle. IDK. Did not mean to imply I did but it is just how it appears to me.

All i know is i paid SD for a tune and i am not convinced i ever got one. sent them ECU. car wouldnt run (literally wouldnt go past 10 mph), so i sent it back to them. Jo told me that the new ECU wasnt taking the tune so they "put a more conservative tune on it". i am of the opinion that they flashed it back to stock and hoped i wouldnt complain. maybe i am wrong. car runs now but seems under powered.

To be fair to both eurocharged and speed driven I had my CL65 tuned (and mods) done by speed driven (installed the downpipes, intercoolers, killer chiller etc.. myself) and they provided great products and support. I had my e63 tuned by eurocharged (installed intake and mufflers myself) they provided a great tune and excellent service/support as well. I would do business with both vendors again.
