CL Dyno Mode !!!

Just wanted to let everyone know that the hidden DYNO and Info mode does work on the CL class. At least is does on my 2003 CL55.

The DYNO mode disables ESP, BAS and ABS.

This is how you get into the hidden menu in the MFD.

1. Insert your key and turn to position 1.

2. Press the trip odometer reset button three (3) times.

3. The first screen you will see on the MFD is the battery voltage in the following format - UB: 12.0 V

4. Press the UP arrow button on the steering wheel.

5. You will now see other information such as Software Version, etc. If you turn the key to position 2 you will get a oil reading by QTS and other info will appear.

6. If you want to put the car into DYNO mode which will disable ESP and BAS, leave the key in position 1 and hit the up arrow until you see the screen that says "ESP Dynamometer Test".

7. At this screen use your + or - steering wheel button to turn this mode ON.

8. You will get some malfunctions due to ESP, BAS, etc. being off, but this is not a problem and they will go away once you disable the DYNO mode.

9. You can start you car now to DYNO it without all the electronic wizardry getting in the way.

CAUTION: DO NOT DRIVE LIKE THIS OR BAD THINGS MAY HAPPEN. ESP, BAS, ABS are desirable when driving

10. To exit out of DYNO mode, simply turn your car off then back on and it will reset to normal.

The menus have other interesting info. I found it interesting that my engine type is recognized as a AMG M113 E55 engine !

What does your engine get recognized as ?

Well, knowing my luck I know I'd screw something up if I tried this.

I'm really curious as to how the hell you figured this out? Did you talk to a mb tech?

This procedure has been known for some time on the W203 C-Class models. I figured I would try it on the CL and it worked. You really can't screw anything up as once you turn the ignition off the whole system resets to default.

Maybe E means Engine... So E55 = Engine 55, and E32 = Engine 32.

Amazing find Awiner!!!!

So, forgive my noobieness, but I assume the ESP button on my dash only disables the ESP, but not the ABS/BAS. What is BAS and how would that affect the dyno numbers?

I'm curious to see what the difference in dyno pulls would be if one were to try one pull with the settings on normal and then with them off like you did.

Actually the ESP button on the dash only de-sensitizes the ESP. You can't for example, do a waterbox burnout without kicking into dyno mode.

I just tried it myself today on my CL600 (M275, E55 it shows). I must say, 635hp with no traction control is one of the most amusing things I've experienced in some time.

Oddly mine survives a restart. You have to go back in and turn it off.

Just guessing that the SW and HW refers to the software and hardware versions installed, with the numbers representing the week/year of the latest installed update?

I can't get out of that main screen using either the up- or down-arrow, meaning I can't activate the dyno mode. In key position 2 I can see the current oil level though. Any thoughts? Is COMAND status relevant - for example, should it be off when doing this?

Do the dyno mode directions at the beginning of this thread work for the 2005 CL55 and the 2005 CL65?

I really how you guys say diabling ESP does not really disable it off and also how you can't do a full burnout.

For my CL65, when I switch on the ESP button, I could do full burnout on dry floor easily. I did a 30 sec burnout many times on my CL65 already. I dont understand whats different with my CL65 with your guys. Weird.

And also when I diable the ESP (Not the dyno mode diable), in 1st gear, I could screech all the way hell break loose from the traffic light. Is this suppose to happen? Its really odd, from what i understand even with the ESP button switch on, I am not suppose to be able to do that?
