The GT weighs about as much as your average SUV and the DB9 simply lacks the grunt, not really suprising if you ask me

i totally agree, im not saying its a cool car, but what do you expect from having over 600 HP, and 740 lb ft torque?? i would want to see what that car run in the stig, i doubt it woud be impressive. plus, did you notice all the problems with it, from the crappy voice command, to the broken seat!!! also, the interior was exactly the same......clarkson or whatever was right when he had to go to the golf course with a sign......

The voice command works perfectly well. Clarkson is an idiot out to get ratings, he always slates the Linguatronic for not working properly but it does! Guess what? He has an SL55 which has Linguatronic, he reviewed it on Top Gear and it worked perfectly!

Its not going to work unless he programs his own voice into it, and he fully well knows that but he will still slate it for viewers.

reliability
how come they didnt compare it to the lambo? Wouldnt that be a better match?

I do agree however that the car should look different for the price. I mean a stock CL55 will do the trick in most cases so why shell out the dough for the 65 unless theres a real appearance difference that will let people know not to f**k with u.

As far as quality I have a 98 CLK320, it has 100k miles, I drive the thing like a Nascar and its still fine. Supposedly quality has gone downhill but I know people with a CL55 and they are quite happy.

Nevertheless I feel as if they bash the CL65 too much. Big deal the seat was messed up. so big deal get it fixed under warranty. These cars are more sophisticated than you can imagine, so if theres a little defect or two like he mentioned, let it go, get it fixed, then enjoy your car.

Looks like an interesting show though. Where can i see more of it?

what i dont understand is how that CL seat was able to go up.. when i am in that car the seat is heavy and it locks when it goes down.. and when it's not all the way down.. it tells you its not down.. with a constant beeping sound

i have the full episode but its 299MB.. and i dont know where i would be able to upload it

Top Gear is a show we have in the UK which comes on every Sunday night, although for you guys, you can download all the previous weeks here.

Totally agree.. Broken headlight typical mercedes quality. Mercedes doesnt make its own headlights it was a press model who knows what might have happand to it.

Clarkson is an idiot it pisses me off watching him with his stupid comparisons and remarks there is no car that is good for him every single car is missing something rather it a Ferrari a Lambo or a Merc or porsche. The CL65 is incredible yes it looks like a normal CL but a true MB enthuiest can easly tell between a CL500 and a CL65. As for the traction issue what do you expect from 612hp and over 700ft/lb of torque ? All the traction tests they did where in the wet show me another 2wd car with that much power on street tires not being able to spin the tires at its peak torque curve. The car is a true mechanical achievement a perfect blend of pure power, luxury, styling and performance great GT car probley one of the best, and im not biased towards MB 100%.

Was it just me or did it look like he tapped the brakes when he was doing the acceleration test with the burnout. ?

yea i noticed that
I noticed that. Looks as if the brakes definitely were engaged. he didnt even explore launching techniques. The car is not pointless, just "hysterically" fast which is what it was meant to be.

If you dont like the car or its idea, at least give respect to the engine. (even though it isnt bored out to 6.5L as he suggests). Imagine what they will do with the next v12 with 4 valves and variable cam timing

His demonstartion of linguatronic was pathetic and almost slanderous, intentionally misusing the system, then holding it up as a demonstration of its ineffectivness.
His take off was clearly power braked, you could see the front suspension moving as it held the car. What a twit, I don't understand how MB can let him near a press car given his obvious bias.
Any valid points he had were lost in his obvious bias. Conversely read the August edition of EVO, a Brit publication, it gives the DB9 a hiding for it's lack of performance and handling compared to the SL55. Not that I'm suggesting the CL65 is a better car, having never driven any of the three cars I am not in a position to personally make that judgement.
Clarkson is a boob.

On the latest episode, Stiggs takes the CL65 on the course. It finished right in the middle of the pack, with Stiggs being amazed by the power, but equally amazed at how bad it was through the turns. Of course, they don't bother to mention that while the CL65 is terrible on the track, it won't be beaten by much on the Autobahn, where it belongs.

They also seem to want to bash the SLK on the episode, but don't really have many bad things to say about it. Some of their criticisms of MBs are valid, but they seem to downplay MBs strengths and focus on the negative. These guys just can't get themselves to like an MB. They even had a more flattering piece on a Jaguar Crap Series Estate .

Clarkson is a boob.
You must remember that he is a presenter first and then a test driver. He wants to be as controversial as possible, so that people would want to watch his programme. But I agree with you, he is a bit of a pain in the **** sometimes.
