DGI’s 2004 CL55 AMG Ownership Log

Looking at his website, i'm curious how much that ran you? Similar BMW package on his site looks like its around $1100 +/- which isn't terrible. Trying to get an idea on what it'll run to have the CLK55 done next.
Regardless, great work and looking forward to more updates.

Im stoked to see how the cabin turns out! Im still debating on a custom flat bottom leather steering wheel with larger paddles to really complete the custom look.
Also, im going to be installing my Dension bluetooth upgrade for the factory head unit when the interior goes back together. Have been tempted to order a double din aftermarket head unit but dont remember if I will be losing any factory functionality if I go that route

I've also got this screwy idea that since Carbon Ceramic brakes debuted to the production world in the 2000 CL55 F1 Edition, Im looking for the specs on those brakes to see if we cant replicate a set for my car.

Also interested in the seats of course but as Im still using the rear seats... those may have to wait.
Anyway, looking forward to sharing progress on the build at Modern Masters!

If Im in this ballpark and with a safe tune, i’ll be tickled pink!

I wanted the car back before I left for vacation and the top mounts/IC delete setup was going to take way too long to receive/film etc. decided to leave it off the car.
turns out, the car isnt ready yet and im leaving for vacation tomorrow. No big deal, the car is in good hands with the guys at Modern Masters! Craig offered to store the car for me until I return, stand up guys and a great shop that Im lucky to be as close to as I am.
They have installed the whipple, working on the cooling upgrades (secondary H/E, trunk tank) and building the fuel system (1000cc Injectors, dual pumps, flex fuel). Wavetrac LSD install, datalogger, etc.
Some pics! Will post more when I receive them.
a short posted by the shop!

summer vacation and family fun but back at it with updates!!
Car is almost ready! All thats left is fuel pumps, secondary heat exchanger, catch can re-routing and some minor bits.
Should be home in a week or two. Will datalog for a while then go back for dyno tune.
Flex Fuel video:
Today’s pics:
Cant wait to get her home and start driving her again.
Need to find time to install interior CF trim, replace actuators and flush suspension, and get some bluetooth in there!!

My CL55 is benched because the transmission decided to die around 148k miles... I found a low mileage unit to swap in, but have not gotten around to that.... in the meantime I have a whole new basket case car to sort.
Hope you grab a limited slip differential next, it makes these cars waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more fun.

Miss driving this thing. Can only imagine what it will feel like now.

Did two dyno pulls, got some numbers off the base tune from V-Tech.
waiting on the tune revision to arrive and i’ll be able to pick up the car!

Went to Modern Masters yesterday, got to driver her for the first time with the Whipple. Amazing response, stock like driveability.
Filled the tank with E85 and put some more miles on it. First drive ever with E85. Needed time to adapt.
Got back to shop, strapped it to their dyno and:
I couldnt be happier. It will adapt some more they said but im tickled pink!
Back into daily driver duty it goes!
Need to find time to swap out accumulators and flush ABC fluid then install Carbon Interior

Still can't get over how well the carbon interior trim came out, really looking forward to seeing how it looks once installed.
If you're still getting a sharp "Ding" from time to time with the ABC warning popping on/off on the dash, you're getting dangerously close to blowing a line. I know it may be difficult holding off on driving the car, but i would get those accumulators done next. Some lines, depending on which one blows, can be an absolute nightmare to replace. Save yourself the headache. You should be able to knock it out in a few hours on a weekend in a garage. Let me know if you need any info.
Good stuff all round

super stoked!
car will head back to Modern Masters for a tune revision beginning of next month. They will also perform my suspension maintenance since Ive had those parts for over a year and havent gotten around to all that also.
at least its finally getting done? 🤣
