Exclamation HELP! "System Unavailable" Command

I need some help. After removing the harness for the bluetooth puck, one wire was ripped, the command system boots up and then says System Unavailable, and powers down.

CD, loads then shuts off
Says Nav device unavailable
Says Sat not available
Doesn't show CD Changer

Any ideas?

Can you fix the wire back?

I originally pulled it out because when I installed the BT puck I broke the wire which caused the command system problem. Not sure if this wire for the phone setup is installed in all cars, and maybe the command is looking for it.

The wire in question starts at under the false floor in the center console and goes into the puck via the plastic receiver piece.

The LA Downtown MB dealer wants an open check to diagnose the problem.

Talking to my service writer from Chicago, he thinks a software update via the MB Dvd may fix the problem, will try that when I get the disc. Also I have ordered a new wire (due wed).

I have tried the basic tips from the forum, starting with the key instead of keyless go, and doing a reboot (system give you about 30 seconds before shutting down)

Quick Update-

Talking with the service writer it seems the system flash via Dealer Only Dvd should remedy the situation.

Can anyone recommend a shop in LA, MB or indy?

Finally found a good shop at German Independent in LA, Century City to be exact.

Anyways they took parts of the interior out and it seems there is no optical signal at the back of the head unit.

Does anyone know if the AGW is part of the head unit, or what part actually creates the light. I've read in some it's the command system in others it's the AGW.

The audio gatway is the Master in the system !!! Do you have sound? do you have display ( is the command working ) or right when it turns on it starts to act up. If all these problems started happining right after this wire got ripped out just unplug the phone harness and see if it fixes it.

I have no sound, the command powers up and about 30 seconds later says " System Unavailable". Putting the wire back or not doesn't change anything. I've got a new working wire and even that hasn't helped.

Is the audio gateway integrated into the command? If so looks like I'm SOL.

I replaced the Audio Gateway with a new one from the dealer and it still does the same thing. Service unavailable comes on and it goes off.

I called this one guy that repairs mercedes radios fir the dealer and he told me it is from the mother board in the head unit itself. He said he can get me one for $500 plus $200 for labor.

I have fixed the stereo and I am posting an update for this.

So I found this website

http://www.carstereohelp.com/mercedesFiberOptic.htm

and used their method to check the MOST cirquit. I bought that little piece from the dealer for about $12. What it does is it will let you skip a particular device (amp, cd changed, dvd nav etc ). I tried the cd changer and no luck, the dvd nav unit no luck, the satelite unit no luck and when i disconnected the amplifier there the stereo came ON! No sound of course but it would function properly. So there i found the problem and it was the amplifier. Very easy to find the problem.

That website where i got the DIY from repairs amps. I called them and they quoted $250-300 with one year warranty. I sent my amp out to them but when they got it they called me and said that they cannot fix this 2004 and up MOST system amp and sent it back to me. So don't bother contacting them about the repair.

I bought a good used amp off of ebay for $350 from 05 cl65. And it works perfectly now.

I drove around without a working stereo for about a year and it was a torture. If you have this issue it is very easy to fix.

Good luck.
