ABC issue maybe an odd one
2005 CL65 100k
No warning lights involved, noises etc.
Mostly original ABS parts as far as I know.
Driving on the freeway at freeway speeds feels to me as the left rear shock/strut shoots up and back down, quickly approx 1-2 seconds at the longest duration. Has not happened at lower speeds and I'm not sure if I'm going over 67 mph. Really an uneasy feeling, like its tipping over LOL.

I have had this happen. The most common issue that causes this is the rear accelerometer. There was a recall on the two front accelerometers a while back but not on the rear. Needless to say, the rear was a problem for me and replaced which fixed these issues.
The issue is dangerous as it can move you over a lane in the blink of an eye. It can also slam a rear side down onto the tire in some cases.
If this happens to you while driving, use the height switch and raise the suspension to the highest setting.

Thanks for the advise, its a bit of a shock no pun blah blah blah ! My wife about craped her self LOL. I'll be looking to do some more research. I am assuming the accumulator pressure valve is blipping or something open and pressurizing the strut. I had a V8, 500 hp 914 that broke a trailing arm bolt during a hard acceleration at 70 mph. When I let off the car felt like it was going to flip over. That almost made ME crap my pants !!! Out comes the check book 
I would think the first thing logically speaking would be a hight sensor going a skew, That would be great but ABC issues don't seem to go the painless route.

It's not that I don't think the accumulator is the issue, just looking for some others who have maybe had a similar problem. I guess often things are repaired but there is more than one part installed in-order to isolate an issue and its left out in the thread ...
I'm having a hard time seeing the accumulator only effecting one strut the left rear.. HST its not real easy to be sure what is moving up and down while driving. What I think is happening may not be correct..

Im pretty sure your going to find out its the rear accelerometer which is a pain in the access to since its under the rear parcel shelf.
At anyrate, I have known a few other CL owners that have had this issue and the accelerometer was deemed to be the issue.
If your height sensor was out of whack, it would effect both sides equally not just one.

I read the above posts as an "accumulator" Ya just skimmed over the word "accelerometer" That sounds good.

I have a simular thing going on but it only happens if I am accelerating really hard and I hit a dip in the road; its as if the suspension wants to level the car. It feels really wierd when it happens. It makes it hard to steer the car because the steering wheel isn't straight anymore until the car level's itself again. Is this the same issue you are feeling/having?

Keep us updated. I know this fixed my issue which was the same one you were expirencing. All the sensors (Body Acceleration sensors both lateral and vertical, Turn Rate Sensors, etc) all work in unicen to control ABC. If one starts to go south, crazy things happen.

^^Did you replace the rear one or the front 2?
I just ordered 2 sensors and will replace the fronts to see if that fixes my problem. If not, I will buy the third one and replace the rear one.

It didn't make clear sense to me how it would seemingly effect only one rear strut so I was and still am not convinced but getting there. I've driven the car over 100 miles with no problem.

does the accelerometer issue include the s55? after i installed my lowering links my car has done this on a few occasions. i feel like its coming from the front left. or could a damaged ride height sensor cause this behavior as well?

^^I ordered two new ones for the front. They are a lot easier to replace. I will try it out in the spring and see if that solved my issue. If not, I have 2 sensors from the front that I can use and try in the rear. All of the 3 sensors are identical.

Yes, certain years of S55 production were too on the recall campaign for the front sensors.

Just drove approx 600 miles, still acting up. I think the sensors are all the same ? ? If so I am going to switch out one of the front ones with the likely good one from the rear I just replaced. Just have to drive it a bit and report back...
