I know Mercedes said they are going for a younger demographic with the CLA but I am curious what age groups are really going to end up buying the CLA45 AMGs.

Hmmmm...That's probably going to be people in their 40s and 50s. Are you assuming the car is geared towards the empty nesters ditching their minivans in favor of something smaller? I'm guessing that most of the AMG cars with basic option sets will sell for just shy of $60K (before tax, where applicable).Originally Posted by moosejaw

Anyone know the average age of a C63 owner? I'm curious how the two will compare with one another. In all truth, my preference would probably be for the C63 but I need AWD...which is why I was previously looking at an S4 and never considered an M3. The S4 is a great car but kind of...boring...compared to prior generations. The 335xi has a great engine but it really has become more of a grand tourer over the years and the interior is a real letdown, especially compared to the Audi.
All of the other comparably sized/priced AWD competitors in the market kind of fall into 3rd place, honorable mention or further down the list...to me, at least. This is one of the first cars that I've seen in a while in this part of the market that's actually kind of interesting.

Will there be aftermarket tuning options? I am in the same boat on needing AWD and have wanted a C63 but can't justify 2 vehicles to manage the Ohio winters. Seriously considering the CLA 45 and wonder how it will compare to the S4 with the stage 2 tunes and pulleys.

Yes, there will be aftermarket options. There are aftermarket providers for every car out there. Why would the CLA be different? A stock CLA should be notably faster than an S4. Who knows what a modded one will do...only time will tell.

Thanks Eric. I figured there would be aftermarket support. Just curious how much more one could get from the 2.0 liter as most of my modding has been done with the 4.2L on Audi. Looking forward to the arrival this fall.

ExploreThe 4.2l was a naturally aspirated v8 in the B7 S4. The current B8.5 S4 has a supercharged V6. The CLA45 is turbocharged. They're all completely different animals. The CLA45's turbo is making A LOT of boost...comparable to what some stage 2 or 3 aftermarket kits make on some cars. The question of how much more you can get out of the CLA is probably a question of how much more boost the other internal engine components were engineered to take on a daily basis. I don't know and at this stage I'm going to venture that most of us don't. I don't even know which model turbo is in the car. Anybody know?

I'm 47 and I'm trading in my '08' C63 for one. Just want to play around in something new until the new C63 comes out.

As above ^^^ also 47 and plan on getting one but no right away - will wait until the whole model range or variants are released and go from there, apparently there are still 2 or 3 more A Class AMG configurations to surface, I'm hoping for a 3 door hatch or proper 2 door coupe variant
With regards to the whole age poll thing, I think you'll find it is very much dependant on individual markets and the cost of vehicles within those markets.
In markets where cars are cheap to buy the age group of buyers will be younger, where they're more expensive to buy the age group will be older.

They're using a Borg-Warner B03 twin-scroll. Also if the 45's designed to handle 26 psi on a daily basis reliably, I'd gamble that there's a solid amount of play room. They're not going to make an engine that's prone to grenading after extended stock use, especially with a warranty in the wings.Originally Posted by Sue Esponte

I am 36. Looks to be a great blend of performance and luxury for the $.... The CLA45 that is...

Koru, You have a lot of confidence in MB. The 26 psi is a leap from what manufacturers have offered over the last decades. In view of the headbolt problem in C63 and MB indifference to owners out of warranty , potential new CLA45AMG owners beware. Suggest you hold off for at least 3 years.

Sorry, the part of holding off make no sense, this is what AMG is all about, they want to be the leader in that segment, and when It comes to engine superiority, it is #1 for a good good reason, and we do have a boat load of confidence in them.Originally Posted by motoman

Im 24 now and thinking of ordering a CLA45 i want to do it European Delivery though. and I was 19 when i had my C63. Best car i ever had. hated to see it go. HATED that it was black tho. Hate black cars so dirty so fast and swirls no matter how good u take care of it.Originally Posted by Sue Esponte
