Removing Front headlight amber reflectors?

I dont have the car yet, but in the future i'll probably get a cla45.

is it just me or does anyone else think the front headlights look ugly due to the orange bit on the side ( for the turn signal of course ). I think the Euro spec headlights look better.

Has anyone tried to remove them?
Is it illegal ? (I honestly would still do it anyways, cause i assume no one would notice too much)

thanks !

I completely agree with you on the ugly amber reflectors in the headlights. If I do decide to get rid of the C63 and go with the CLA then I will look into this as well. I'm assuming it wont be easy though.

yeah i honestly think the euro spec headlights make the cla look super good, but the amber reflectors in the headlights totally ruin the look of the CLA ( subjective though, but i'm pretty sure a lot of people agree with us).

I also know a lot of people go through the hassle to make their car look good, so i think it is a well worth mod to do. It shouldn't be too hard (maybe easier than installing HID's?)

lets hope someone decides to give it a try and share their own DIY on how to do it.
I'll thank the person in advance !

Yeah it will definitely be well worth to do but my only worry is breaking the factory seal on the headlights and opening them up to get to the reflectors. Typically I wouldnt bother with that so I'm hoping there will be an alternative. Anyway are you set on trading the C63 for the CLA, I still can't decide if I want to make the move. I really don't want to regret selling the C.

The C63 is a definite keeper. We're lacking cars in the family, so we're gonna get a CLA 45 soon !
If there is no snow in NJ (i wouldn't know cause i'm from canada), then don't bother trading in your C63, i'd take it over the CLA anyday!

Oh I gotcha, that will be quite the garage.

I'm considering the CLA because I daily drive the C and I'm pretty worried about the daily commute in winter weather coming soon so I would like all wheel drive. And unfortunately there's definitely snow here in NJ.

haha i see ! in the winter, the c63 is super dangerous to drive. EVEN if i slap on a nice set of winter tires on there, i get wheel spin like no tomorrow so i just drive a beater suv.

If i were you i'd just keep the c63 and get a SUV for the winter, salt ruins the car.

Oh believe me I'm already getting a hint of how crazy this beast really is. I have some Continental all seasons on it and even in the rain the car does not like accelerating from a standstill...so much wheelspin. And I'm not in a position to get another car (can only trade for another) otherwise if I could I wouldn't even bother asking haha.

TOTALLY DISAGREE! To each their own I guess!! C63's are everywhere! Wait to you see the CLA45 in person, my car turns heads everywhere, people get out of their cars in parkades to look at my CLA45 and ask questions....I don't see people doing that to C63....When you put a CLA45 next to a CLA 250, there is also a HUGE difference....trust me

Regarding the side marker mod, I totally agree, orange piece looks ugly but up here in Canada I believe that would be illegal to remove, plus it lights up at night. Breaking the factory seal would be sketchy.....likely to getting fogging issues

haha yeah but keep in mind, the cla45 was just released and barely anyone has one. The c63 has been out for at least 5 years already, so everybody has seen one by then. I bet if you had a c63 when it was first released, people would do exactly the same thing that happened to you in your cla45. Awesome car by the way, exactly how i would configure my car.

My C63 turned heads too when it first came out as I was one of the first to get it where I lived. But there are tons around now and I see probably at least 5-6 minimum a day. Then of course it`s no headturner anymore.

You are one of the first in the world to get it and that is why it`s turning heads because no one has seen one before.

There is also a huge difference between the C350 and the C63....

Keep in mind that the CLA45 will be more mass produced than any other AMG because the price is extremely competitive... sooner or later there are going to be so many out there that no one cares. Only reason why it`s not like that because they are not caught up with the demand yet.

Exactly what i thought. Right when you said hilly area + 40km distance = SFU.

I would know cause i go there also. I understand clearly cause whenever it's winter season down in richmond/vancity, it snows up in SFU. Also super foggy at times.
