Sounds great for a 4 cyl engine, certainly better than one of my other cars with a petrol turbo 2.0ltr engine and stoked the performance exhaust option is standard for Australian market A Class AMG's

Is this an OEM upgrade? The crackling reminds me of the Jag F type bypass valve system.
Sounds great for a 4 banger.

I just searched vids of these with and without exhaust, I did not realize how strong the note is with the stock exhaust in sport mode let alone aftermarket exhaust, It may grow on me. I really should flog one to make up my mind!

I am sorry bro but the C63 AMG sounds much better and as far is the sound of this car, it sounds like a honda civic with a bazooka/glass pack, it sounds terrible in my opinion.

You should listen to real Lancer Evos or Subaru STIs, they sound much deeper with 3" exhaust and no farts

It actually sounds very good in person. I did own a C63 for 3 years, so I know how good the 6.2L sounds. The 6.2 sounds like an angry beast while the 2L had a raw mechanical exhaust tone.

i love the cracking/backfires/popping in the exhaust. Especially when shifting gears! It satisfies my driving. My ML63 exhaust pops after i removed the resonators and i definitely have found new love for my exhaust. This CLA45 is what Hondas WISH their exhaust sounds like. As a 6.2L owner, it definitely has my approval!

You can never really compare the exhaust note of a V8 with an inline 4 they are simply too different, I have vehicles with both engine types and enjoy both in their own different ways

The 4 pot Wrx's and Evo's sound completely different from each other as well.

Agree the Wrx's sound fantastic but not so much the Evos - all boxer piston configuration engines 4's and 6's have a nice exhaust note, as is the case with Porsche's, V8's have one of the best engines exhaust notes period, however inline 4's don't sound anywhere near as good some are better than others especially now that manufacturers are purposely tuning the exhausts to do so.

Comparing an Evo to the new AMG my brother in law has an Evo 7 and TBH after having now driven a CLA45 this new AMG sounds a lot better than that thing and definitely better than the subdued sound of an Evo 10 in stock OEM exhaust trim which I've also driven.

Comes down to personal tastes in the end, but one things for certain I don't think anyone who will own a new A Class AMG will be overly dissapointed with the engine note

Agree, as above I own vehicles with inline 4's both N/A and turbo, a V6 and an LS1 V8 engined vehicle and an IL4 diesel MB and being completely objective and also as a lover of the V8's engine note this new AMG IL4 sounds great and definitely gets my nod of approval as well

how do i upgrade my standard exhaust to a performance exhaust? i called mercedes and they told me that if i have the amg model then i should have the best exhaust they offer. but i read everywhere that there are 2 exhausts standard and performance. so how do i buy the performance one because my exhaust sounds soft.

anybody have the performance exhaust part number ?

The performance exhaust was an option that you can buy from the factory,

In a nutshell, it delete one of the resonators along the exhaust line. However due its not a single piece that you can swap out, its consist of several pieces which can add up and cost up a few thousand dollars. At those prices you might as well get an after market one like RAMUS or AMYTRIX

Some people have paid muffler shops to cut off one of the resonators too buy you mileage may vary ... just google it

I've got a complete performance exhaust setup for sale. $500 firm, but you'd probably have to come to NY for pickup unless you could arrange freight. It's about 12 ft long.

It sounds good, but I also think this exhaust has too much popping. I would rather choose Fi or Remus performance exhaust~ Just saying~
