Recommended tires

Now that I have all this newfound power in the CLA, close to 100 whp & tq, I'm going to be needing better tires soon to hold the power to the ground. Notwithstanding that I happen to get a wheel sponsor (very unlikely, but you never know), what tires does the forum suggest for holding all that power to the ground so I don't spin like an idiot?

Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 235/40/18 or 235/35/19 depending on wheel size.

Always a tradeoff.

Mine are at 6000 Km and plan to rotate F/R at 8000 Km.

Pilot Sport Cup tires recommendation is likely to be a little too extreme.

Check out the Kumho V720's they just came out this year and btw the Cup tires will most likely not be good cold. Btw, the V720 is the OEM tire for the Viper ACR 2016 ... If it's good enough for the fastest car of the year i'm pretty sure it'll be enough for you. Also look to upgrade your rim size to at least a 8.5 width or maybe even a 9 inch wheel if you can get the right offset. I have 8.5 inch wide rims with a +42 offset and it works for me. I also have KW Clubsports which really made the biggest difference overall.

PM me if you want me to get you a quote on some Enkeis. For an 18x8.5 it should end up being around 650 -800.

I'll keep it in mind though frankly, I like the stock rims, and I'm not terribly interested in spending cash on wheels, heh.

After I got my tune I went with Super sports, they are cheaper than the stock tires and last pretty long. I went from 235 to 245 and also got an alignment and I noticed a pretty big difference handling wise. you could check out hankook rs3's also. they are a VERY good tire and not expensive at all, not so good in the wet though.

You can stuff 245s on a CLA? How tall? 245/40?

You can run 245/35 R19 PSS on stock 19 wheels no problem. Handling and comfort is much better compared to stock Dunlop's. 245/40 R19 will be too tall. Wheel diameter will change +5%.

PS Michelins are 1% taller compared to stock 235 tires.

Super sports are alright but I really don't feel the hype that they're all about. Check out tire racks rebate on the Dunlop direzza z2. Those are solid tires and the width is very wide for a 235 tire, 9 inches tread width.

I'm running 18's on my CLA 45.

I'm thinking about settling on the 245/40R 18 Continental ExtremeContact DWs. Very solid tire from the reviews, good treadwear and a good price. Only a 4mm change in height. I'm not sold on 245/35 since they're over 8mm shorter.

Rex? What are you running?
