CLA45 AMG ~ OFFICIAL DRAG THREAD
Too soon? -I think not!
I'm looking forward to seeing what these will post in the quarter mile. Until then, lets take a stab at what these should run on paper...
High 12s, with excellent 60fts but moderate trap speeds?!?

A lot has to do with how these can leave the line. With a stick you can take full control over your launch and it would make or break every run. An auto w/o any launch control to speak of, the quickest times may come down to how abusive an owner is willing to be to the car.

Uh..... You do realize its a true 2nd generation dual clutch transmission with launch control right?

I think it won't break into the 12's. 13.1-.2. Has AWD for off the line but doesn't have that much torque (well it does, but still).

Let's do an AMG comparison...
W210 E55 AMG (my all time personal fab DD), had 349hp/391tq. It had a weak top end but mountain of torque. It weight in at 3,750lbs, and had the old sloppy shifting 5-speed grandfather clock 722.6 transmission. Even with poor traction off the line it made 4.9 to 60mph, and 13.0-13.2 in the quarter mile.
The CLA45 has 4wd, super fast DCT Tranny, launch control, more HP, weighs 300+ lbs less, and a way better drag coefficient of 0.23 vs 0.29
There is no way in hell it is running in the 13s stock lol. Optimistic 12.5, conservative 12.8. Mph is anyone's guess.

Lets hope so. It would be a shame to bring out this kind of car and NOT have launch control...
Edit: Most auto news websites and magazines are claiming launch control will be included. Haven't seen anything official from MBZ though.

Pretty sure it has launch control, most new fast cars esp with the DCT options have launch control.
People who think/thought this car was going to run a 13 1/4 mile are delusional..... as someone said above, 3450 lbs, DCT, launch control, and AWD, etc....
12.6 at 112.5 and 4.1 secs 0-60....
Wait till they tune this baby and firm up the shift points even more... cars will be doing 3.8 - 3.9 0-60s and 1/4 miles at 12.2 at 120ish

I will definitely eat my words now. I'm shocked, but I guess that's technology for you, especially the combination of DCT, launch control, and AWD. Good job AMG.

I think so... Key is how strong are those internals. But I think with a mild chip tune and other mild bolt ons 400hp/400tq should be possible. The biggest gains in acceleration will probably come from really sticky rubber. That's probably the very first thing I would do. 4.0-3.9 should be easily possible (which is pretty crazy when you think about it bc that used to be 911TT territory just years ago)

They run a lot of boost standard it's like 28psi 1.8 bar that's a lot of boost for a standard car

I personally think that these cars will be closer to 14's than everyone else things, we will see soon. I will guarantee that I have mine on the drag strip within the first 2 weeks of ownership.
