Features Being Removed From Cars About To Be Built

https://youtu.be/ETQ440WDy3A

In this video the guy is saying Mercedes is removing certain features from his car that is being built in October due to the chip shortage. He's losing wireless charging, augmented reality navigation, hands free trunk opening (foot wave) and the AMG Track Pace app. Has anybody else here been informed of features being removed from their car build? I'm wondering if features are being removed for all markets.

In compensation the dealer is offering him a year of free service.

Yes, all those options are delayed indefinitely, globally.

Some. Anything control by the Hermes module will work once the modules are retrofitted next year.

But stuff like AR Navigation can never be added?

It depends...
First requirement is the camera mounted under the windshield.
Second is the "high-end" MBUX unit, which is located in the driver's seat footwell.
It's not clear which part is short, but I am guessing it's the MBUX unit.
Wouldn't be impossible to retrofit, but it would need some coding too and dealers may not want to do all that.

Argh... even if I don't use navigation often... I know it will bother me to know my car doesn't have all the features. So I will probably pursue getting them. Are there Mercedes coding tools the general public can get? I got a OBD Eleven for my Audi for example and it allowed me to configure the car's computers... but I haven't found the equivalent product for the Mercedes world.

The easiest way would be to go through RJ Auto: https://rjautomotive.net/
He can do a lot of stuff, including retrofits. He codes remotely using an OBD dongle.

This can be retrofitted to all cars that have the 549 MBUX HIGH system & the correct windscreen.
That's the important bit. If you get your build/MSRP sheet from your salesman, it will tell you what your car is getting.

Picked up my ordered GLC 43 two days ago and dealer told me the AR navigation chip could never be added in the future. The camera system is still there, but unfortunately their parts department wouldn’t be allowed or able to add the specific AR chip it. They had to take off $400 off the now called “Media-lite” Package.

There might be, but I don't have any recommendations.
