Just read a couple articles about the MB.Drive Assist Pro that is coming first to the new CLA. The system is in the final stages of development (launch this year) and the early feedback is equal to better than Tesla's FSD, both of which are level 2 drive assist systems. Was surprised to read that it handled tricky traffic situations better well, perhaps better than a person.
Will be available as a purchased option or subscription.
Just shows to me how overhyped Tesla's FSD is if MB can (with Nvidia as a partner) develop a similarly capable/better system in less time. Unlike Tesla, Mercedes also has also a certified Level 3 ADAS system, so for people that like point to point assisted driving this will be a cool feature...

Well, that’s exciting news. I read both articles and the system does seem better than Tesla. A bit confused though. One article said hands must be on the wheel at all times. The other didn’t. Also, looks like already available in China, and soon in Europe. Nothing about the US, and whether also available on the S Class.
It’d be great if it was an option on the 2027.
thanks for the info

Thanks, Wolfman. I will pay attention to that time. I actually wait for the GLC version to check out the new dashboard. I really like the new grille of the new GLC.

Does anyone know if having the following option in the build means that the car is ready for MB.DRIVE Assist Pro: P20 Driving assistance package (L2) ?

ExploreHi, Does anyone can educate me/us here about the Car to Car communication in a FSD System.
If Cars with more and more FSD installed, can they communicate to each other?
Came to my mind when reading in the beginning of the first Article about the 4-way Stop Intersection Situation. Yes, the Mercedes made the decision for the others to have to wait (as I do too if needed). Could it result in the same inconclusive Situation when two or more cars with FSD reach the 4-Way Stop the same time? If connected they could resolve this in milliseconds, giving a Schedule to each other, who drives next.
Or If My car is having the intended location in its program, other Cars around me would know and can drive with their agenda in mind around them selfs and drive in a smart way to avoid each other or even in a bigger scale avoid creating Traffic Jams or Highway Pile ups in Foggy Conditions. Even drive briskly and safe in Foggy conditions because they all know where they are. No Human Eye contact needed.
I look forward to a cool future thanks to all these technologies. And tell the Chinese or Russians not to attack any Satellites -EVER! Thanks in Advance.

I would think that Car to X system provide supplemental data rather than the immediate proximity based scenarios which would be handled by the cars sensors and and onboard processor for decision-making logic. That is my assumption (have not seen anything related by MB) but given that the Car-to-X systems are cloud based it takes more time to communicate. It's not a peer to peer vehicle systemOriginally Posted by Typical Guest

Newbie
The new CLAs are becoming available, but drive assist pro is a software add on, and it’s not clear to me whether it’s actually available yet. All the reviews on YouTube seem to be on MB demo cars, anybody know whether, if I buy a CLA tomorrow, I can add full point-to point driving immediately? My local dealer seemed unclear on the subject.

When I worked with Toyota a long time ago, they had some preliminary concepts around car to car communication as part of their Intelligent Transportation System proposals in Japan. FYI, Japanese companies typically use a fifty year planning window so the concepts in the ITS proposals were targeted for roughly this time frame. Not all of the necessary technologies exist, and I don't know that the other Japanese domestic manufacturers came onboard, but mesh networks of cars was doable almost two decades ago. If you want transportation innovation, you need to look at Japan, China, and a number of other countries; you won't find advanced concepts in the US - I have been to domestic trade shows and worked with them too. They just don't do the kind of long range planning that other countries/manufacturers do.Originally Posted by Wolfman
