How common is this?

Any idea why it happens to you? I know my view was unobstructed and the windshield clean?
I asked Mercedes about it and they said to bring it in. Appointment setup for tomorrow AM for them to try to figure out why the lights are going on and off and take a look at the traffic sign issue.

The lights should not happen. You need to take it in for that. In fact, take it in for both of those. Mine shouldn't do it either, but I haven't taken it in yet for the sign recognition

If I remember correctly I did remote start the car. It has happened several times. Agreed, the lights should definitely not happen, even if it sporadic. I guess it's a bad sign that I've had the car almost two weeks and I'm already frustrated with it.

Dealerships in my area have a 2.5 rating for service, I found this Mercedes shop that has a 4.5, the difference is amazing, of course that's for non-warranty work.

The issue is somewhat inconsistent but it has happened numerous times in the last week, under varying conditions. My service advisor said he going to do some digging but at worst I am going to keep bugging them until this gets fixed. There is no reason I should just accept lights randomly not working.

After I pushed back on the service department and demanded they take another look at the car they discovered that the controllers for the Traffic Sign Detection Camera and the Ambient lights needed software updates. Hopefully, that will resolve the issue. We will see.

Don’t let them pull you around. Clearly it has issues and needs addressed.
Pretty sure you can just tell them. “ How can my lights going out be a normal, unsupported warranty fix. Either fix it, or I’ll demand a buy back and let mercedes know how you’re treating it’s customers”
the good thing about having Mercedes on your side with horse **** dealerships is that they can refuse inventory deliveries for lack of performance. They don’t want that

Thanks. That is basically what I did now...twice. They told me the issues were fixed yesterday. I picked the car up and within 1 hour the Traffic Sign Detection error was back when I started it up. I drove right back to the dealership and showed it to them. Car is still in the shop

Yeah I am thinking the same. However, at the cost of these cars they need to resolve it. I should not have to live with dismissing an interstitial error message whenever I start my car remotely. Especially since it is specific callout to a malfunctioning traffic sign detection system.

Picked the car up this morning and the error message has not recurred. I have tested using remote start and it does not recur then either. They ran an update to MBUX on it that seems to have had a fix for this issue listed as part of the update. Will let you know if the error happens again. Fingers crossed it does not.

More bells and whistles, more that can be wrong. My A.I. has been acting weird, interrupts conversations even without the "Mercedes" prompt. It's also said a few very unusual things, had a witness to one, either pranking or an easter egg?

Update: It looks like they have finally fixed both the light issue and the traffic camera recognition issue. In doing so they had to replace a ton of components (including the lights). Let's see how this goes. In total 22 days in the shop in about 45 days of ownership. Not an awesome start. I am still waiting on Mercedes to tell me whether they will buyback the car.
