Hi im selling a 2001 Mercedes Benz C320 Sedan with only 35k miles on it. Unfortunatly it does have a salvage title but i have looked over the car and as far as i can tell i cant even tell where it has been hit, im selling the car for a friend. Right now it does run and drive but there are some problems, The car battery drains when sitting over night. There is a short in the system somewhere which im pretty sure relates to the second problem, the transmission sometimes doesnt want to upshift to the next gears. sometimes it will stay in first and other times shift through the gears and other times only shift to second or third, my friend has taken it to a transmission shop and they identified it as NOT being the transmission at fault. They said the powertrain is in perfect shape, i myself am a technician also and i just havent had time to look at it and identify where the short is. The car still drives like a dream. It is very clean inside and decent outside. Unfortuanatly with the arizona heat and sun the clear coat is starting to fade and peel in some spots like the top of the front bumper, hood, roof and trunk area. I am going to try and find the short in the system sometime but as far as right now it is for sale as is. The engine is mechanicly sound with very good power and no leaks or noises whatsoever. The car is located in Yuma AZ. He does need to sell the car quick.

The car does have a brand new battery and brand new alternator that one of the other mechanics that looked at it just threw at it thinking it would fix it. here are some pics. excuse them the car has been sitting for a while so it is dirty inside and out right now. i will try and get new pics up later when its cleaned up if it doesnt sell.

Asking Price is starting at $8,000.00 OBO. Shipping is available but would be up to buyer to pay shipping cost. My name is Ashton and you can give me a call at 928-246-1746 if you have any questions or just pm me on this forum. Dont miss a great deal on a very nice car. I will post updates on the work done to it also.

Was the salvage title status from an accident or flooding? Can you post a carfax or vin number?

My guess would be from a flood based on the condition of the engine bay and all the shortage issues but that's only a guess, the carfax would help with the selling of this car and your asking price seems reasonable.
Goodluck with your sell.

No i beleive the accident was in the front but was completely redone. but here are some new pics after ive cleaned it up a bit. no perfect but pretty good. it shines up nicely. heres a pic of the vin number also so you guys can run a carfax on it. because i really dont know why its a salvage and neither does my friend. heres some pics guys, enjoy and just give me a call at 928-246-1746 if you have more questions or are very interested. price may be negotiable. But at 8,000 for this car is a steal. Let me know

and heres a couple small video clips of the engine running and a walk around of the vehicle. enjoy

oh and another thing is every accessory on the car works perfectly including a/c is ice ice cold, engine is smooth running, i just got done driving it and the tranny was still being picky as far as the shifting problem but i have yet to look into the electrical problem. Interior is in great shape as well as all accessories and all power options. And i looked at the underneith of the car and there doesnt seem to be any type of water damage. The engine bay was just very dirty from sitting for several months. very dirty, i just washed it and wiped it down quickly, it still could clean up alot better. but there are no leaks underneith the vehicle and no sight of water damage. Oh and the srs is on as well as the abs light. not sure if it has to do with the wreck.

Just what we all need, a Mercedes with an undiagnosed electrical problem If you are serious about selling the car, why not take some time and money and fix the problem? No one in their right mind is going to buy that car in its current state....you'll get a lot more money for it if you fix it.

bump, price lowered to 6000.00 as is. i have found where the battery is being drained from, it seems to be one of the accessory systems or power options. im still in the process of locating it to a particular system.

Dont listen to all the advice you hear in this thread. Pull up your passenger carpet, and pull off the metal plate in front. The tranny computer and srs computer are underneath this panel and they could have been damaged in the crash. I would just replace them, and you would have a great running car. 6k for this car is a steal, if I was closer I would buy it tommorw.

you could probably part this car out and get more $$ than what you are trying to sell it for.

well i already did pull that up. that was the first thing i looked at after checking the harness. it looks as if it might have been replaced but then who knows if they even put the right one in. the tcm was the only module under the carpet though. but man mercedes sure made it tough to work on your own cars, heck they dont even want you checking your own tranny fluid without bringing the car into the dealership. kinda sucks.

well guys the car is still for sale but there is good news the car has been diagnosed, matter a fact there is a service bulletin on the car for this. The shifting problem was found to be cause by the oil leaking through the wire harness for the transmission control module. I will be calling tommorrow to see what the actual cost and repair procedure for this is. I found this problem when i took a look at the tcm and found oil inside the connector and then looked online and found the tsb for it and sure enough it has a transmission fluid leak at the tranny where the harness for the tcm plugs into. I will post a total fix cost for the problem tommorrow. Price is still going to be $6000 OBO. i will report back Again the car is very drivable and the only other major problem is the battery drainage when it sits.
