Question on the chrome Smartkey

Guys,

Is there a difference between the new chrome smartkeys and those that support keyless go?

I can't find clear information anywhere on Google.

The part number for the chrome key is 211-766-36-06-9999, but no idea if that includes this feature.

I've got a subscription to StarTek info. I'll see if I can dig something up tomorrow at work.

I don't think there is any difference. I have both keys and keyless go. They had problems with the old ones so the chrome ones just fixed the problems. Plus, they are prettier.

I believe they are different. My understanding is that the ones without keyless go have two batteries and the ones with have one. I'm guessing that the RFID or whatever they're using is not in the ones without keyless go. Even the manual shows two different keys I believe.

My current keyless-go key takes 2 batteries.

Rick,

I couldn't find anything with Startek, sorry. They don't even list the key as a part.

The internals of the keys are different as are the part numbers! The non keyless go will learn on its own in the ignition after being coded by MB and the keyless go key has to be assigned by a SDS (MB computer) to work the keyless go portion. Some older MB's with SMART KG KEY will not work with the new chrome KG key.
